I'me sure we've all had this problem but a while back I had this expereince.

felt a little bit off in the monring.By mid afternoon I knew I was crook and went to bed. Luckliy I got the spew bucket and put that bed side. Some hours later I was spewing from both ends.

The thing about it was that my stomach hurt like hell. I throught I was going to either explode or break open. I was within 2-3 minuts of calling an ambulane but felt something in my stomach move and within 2-3 minutes I felt better.

I was lucky I was at home and my room has an ensuite that no mess occurred.

We all know how embarssaing and deblilitaing it is when this happens and no doubt some have had it happen even when travelling in a car or a plane.

The question is, what makes the stomach hurt so much and is there some home remdy or something we can buy over the counter for it?

I've learned that its very important to maintain eelectrolytes so how do we ensure that? Is there some drink we cany buy and carry with us.

Finally, is there something we can take not to prevent the spewing but controll it enough to give us time to do what wen need to do so we dont cover ouselves in our on stuff?

thanks to all in advance.

Not a doctor so this is a personal account nothing more..

I have had a huge bout of Gastro before to the point I thought it was curtains for me, It put me out of action for months and took nearly a year for me to feel right again..

But I was advised for 24-36 hours to only eat very dry food (if I had to) and to drink lots, this meant at the start I was drinking them spewing but after 12 hours or so I was able to keep down small amounts of liquid, I didnt eat for about 30 hours to help clear out the toxins and from then it was a very slow process of starting to eat dry toast..

Avoid all dairy product and nothing grease..

On a another personal note I also had a iffy digestive system, going veggie and then cutting out 90% of the dairy I was consuming has totally sorted all this for me..

Try to consume if not only, mostly natural stuff, foods that arent hit heavy with those production value raisers, basically those foods that have normal description on side what it contains are good-er for you and those that have all sort of chemicals are not so good. Drink good amount of water every day, not just coffey or other drinks that is not purely water and then i would advice to strenghten your tummy with exercises that focus on the general area also just by doing heavy breathing exercises you can help your whole tummy, where you hold breath then push out and hold bit then fill up again and hold and so on, it makes you dizzy but find your balance aka chill out if you going to pass out.
Have had painful tummy for times because of lack of these exercises i just listed, i am already depressed and with other problems and tummy pain was just like walking with nail in the food, i still eat way too much and have a bit of sweet tooth but at least i now know the importance of exercises that really have helped along the way.

After having a heart attack several months ago and being given lots of med tinners and stations, my stomach stopped cold. I've tried tons of scripts-seen drs/had a colonoscopy-still the same. Specialists-nothing. This is a nightmare. I am diabetic but that doesnt seem to be the spoken problem.

I am literally living a nigtmare:severe stomach pains-no results-drink tons and tons of water. Definitely at a loss-they blame the new meds-well i need those to live but my life for months is just a living hell. No answers from anyone. My intestines just won't work. Any answers?
My insulin isn't working-it's just crazy. Any ideas?

Cramping or burning?

If 'burning', and persistent then get pepto and tums and that kind of stuff.

Persistent cramping is, can be much more complicated to diagnose and treat.

Could there be any kind of natural herbs/remedies for your allergies or illness? Because i believe it is the very meds doctors sign for us that mess up our systems in the longer run, specially if we supposed to eat some meds for years and years like many of us these days are, top of that the very foods many of us consume is by allot poison for us, so in combination it could weaken our natural systems so that all kind of illnesses and pains could start to pop up.
In my experiences just simple look out for natural remedies could start a whole new leaf for healing.

I recommend the book "Breaking the Vicious Cycle: Intestinal Health Through Diet" by Elaine Gottschall.

She writes about the "Specific Carbohydrate Diet" and you can get a preview of it on the internet: www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info...

Azureblue! Sorry, I replied to someone else but think this message is relevant to you too!

Hi Justso,
I have been helping a friend for a while now, who has had a colostomy and various health issues due to certain medications.
She herself had ulcerative colitis, a blockage, short gut syndrome...and it all started with severe stomach pain and everything happened in a domino-like effect.

I'm not trying to scare you (I'm sorry)...just want you to get more tests done. Every time she went to the emerg at our local hospital she was misdiagnosed and released. Eventually she was rushed there in an ambulance and they found all that was actually going on.

It's hard to know who to trust anymore with our health, and I've been getting good results for her skin issues by using natural products like aloe gel, coconut oil and manuka honey. After everything she has gone through, she still isn't taken seriously by her physicians.

Last thing...she has trouble now absorbing nutrients, etc. and has to take large doses to get a minimal effect.
I'm not a doctor or nurse, but have diabetic friends and know that there must be a reason that your insulin is not working.
I really hope you are able to get to the core of this issue.
It could be something really simple and easily corrected, but I would hate to think that they're not looking hard enough.
Best wishes,
jacy

First, what works for one does not mean it works for all. That said, since I have found myself in my 60's, and I have 5 grandchildren who always seem to have some kind of intestinal something, I started taking magnesium. I started at a low dose to begin with and I have worked my way up to 2 - 400mg tablets a day (when I am not going anywhere before 12 noon). They keep me clean and pressure free (hardly any gas anymore) no constipation and thinking back to when I started about 4 years ago, no vomiting. YMMV.

A glass of water with a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar first thing in the morning can solve most tummy problems, constipation, heart burn and so on including allergies. I do it for years on and off; I never have any problems of this kind. A lot of positive endorsement from regular people on earth clinic if you're interested.
Good luck and be well.

I spent a long time thinking I had IBS or something of the sort and I've had my share of tummy bugs.

What worked for me was to cut my diet back to virtually nothing to see how I tolerated the few foods I judged might be safe.

If all was well, I'd add something new to my diet and wait to see if it agreed with me or not. It's a long process of trial and error but I found that my system worked very well if only I was careful what I put into it.

It can be disappointing to have to forego your favourite foods or even basics such as potatoes or mushrooms but the alternative is worse.

To find out that I (or my system) wasn't the problem was a great relief for me. Maybe the resulting lack of stress helped me stay well, too.

I really don't know how much food itself is to blame for people being ill or if it's the pesticides that get sprayed on it. But if something upsets you, avoid it like the plague in future.

I've been much better since giving up dairy food, too. That was ages ago but I can still remember the slight taste of mucus that was present in the occasional fruit yoghourt

Another thing to bear in mind is one's own expertise as a cook. The last time I nearly killed myself was when I tried quinoa. The pain was excruciating and I threw up everything I'd eaten after I'd had it, so it must have been causing a blockage - you shall not pass. Now quinoa is a staple diet for some people which was hard to believe because my portion had the texture (and probably taste) of grit.

The less processed foods a person can eat the better. I'd suggest that anyone wanting to eat meat cuts out burgers, ham, sausages etc and only buys good cuts from a reputable butcher. It might seem expensive but meat doesn't have to be eaten every day. In fact, it might be a relief to have a lighter meal in the days before or after it.

Meat will 'keep' though and a chicken or beef sammich should be perfectly acceptable to a carnivore so long as the meat has been looked after carefully since yesterday dinnertime

Sounds like you passed solids that were blocking movement. That can happen. Eat lots of fiber.. fruits, vegs and granola, nuts etc.

Mylanta, Kaopectate etc as well.. .

Had same thing more than once too..

The guts are the soil of your garden, and negative effects can be cumulative before you notice it.
Sometimes, there needs to be an 'incident'.
It will certainly get your attention that some thing isn't right.
There may not be a fast cure, but if you limit your diet to things which replenish
your soil, you should be on the path to healing. Avoid aflatoxins, they are highly carcinogenic,
and hide in our food staples, things we have been brainwashed and force fed to dine upon.

Take a look at what you may have consumed, for years.
Pretend that all of your teeth
are in your stomach,
and eat accordingly. Time.

I had TB many, many years ago, was in hospital for 6 months, blitz's with drugs for 2 years. Since then my stomach has not been normal. I HAVE to take anti acid pills every day. What I am trying to get at is just wind can give you all those symptoms and they can last days.
I'm really sorry to upset all you health food fans but think back to your parents. They ate what they could get, anything. Yet they didn't suffer like we do today. So it aint the food per se. But it might be the food additives, E numbers etc. or the rubbish they put on the crops or feed the animals.
If you haven't been tested yet I would first try cutting out ALL dairy products, you might have coeliacs. Either way if it's something you ate you will only find out by cutting that food stuff out. But if you do that only do it one food at a time otherwise you'll get mixed up which is causing what.

My panacea for all stomach issues is to chew on a small slice of fresh ginger. It seems to always bring immediate results. If it's a gas problem, however, the issue is problem in the colon and not the stomach. In those cases, I dice up a clove of fresh garlic and swallow it all at once with a glass of water.

Am listening to this podcast, and thought of reading this thread the other day. Maybe you can give it a listen and find some valuable info there?

There was someone else that posted the same time you did about having horrific symptoms and undiagnosed, but I am having a hard time locating that thread. If you happen to know which thread I mean, please forward this podcast to them as well. I am learning quite a bit listening to this...

Best Wishes!!!

Yeah - I got the idea you've been reading my medical history.

Two ideas:
IF your into alternative medicine, a good chinese herbalist can help get your system back in balance, certain states allow other herbal remedies appropriate to treatment of your gastro conditions. Start taking a diabeties vitamin formula.

Western Medicine Approach is more complex & difficult. Demand changes in your regimen. I switched insulin types, dumped one add-on injection for Victoza, quit meds for a while, quit Victoza for a while. Went to the ER (extended release) version of Metformin (really helped the tummy), doubled dose over time, cut it in half later. My primary care doc sounded the alarm when my cholesterol got down in the twenties and thirties, so the heart doc grudgingly cut my statins from 80mg to 20 mg - the variations are endless but that's why they call it practicing medicine here.

Seems to me it took about 18 months after my heart attack to start feeling "right" again.
