Trump names Lt Gen H.R.McMaster as new National Security Adviser

I don't know anything about this guy. Everyone seems to be happy with him, though I will say I'm skeptical of anyone who accepts Bannons place on the NSC. From reading this thread though, it sounds like he's going to be taken off of it.

He does. It's not just Trump, it's the right in general. They love putting Generals in charge of anything defense related, so this is a concession to that. That said, I personally think we need a mix of military and civilian, there's some real arguments to be made that things have drifted too far to civilian in recent years, so a bit more military could be a good thing.

Unlike Michael Flynn, this guy is a Russia hawk and would never appear on RT like Michael Flynn did.
