There is so much money in the drug trade that unfortunately many people can be bought...even some who claim to be a branch of law enforcement.. Just look at the Mexican military or government officials with all the reports over the years coming out of that failed narco state.

We all know coke is coming into the states as the prices (from what I have read) are lower than ever. Great war on drugs (sarc) if you want the supply to be increased and the cost lowered; what a friggen sick joke if judged by the reported 20 tons...well at least in this apparent case that supply line is shut down (for a while ?) .

Someone will come buy and post about the DEA, CIA and others who have in past times been caught red handed or at least with their finger prints all over the deal.. Yep many of us already know as it seems money can corrupt just about anyone or anything...

San Juan, Puerto Rico – In a case highlighting the infiltration of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) by transnational criminal organizations, twelve current and former TSA officers and airport staff were indicted for allegedly trafficking over 20 tons of coc aine — worth over $100 million — into the U.S. over an 18-years timeframe.

Last Wednesday, a federal grand jury returned an indictment against the twelve defendants, who are charged with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute coc aine.

Before someone thinks it is just Puerto Rico

Not surprisingly, this is the second such bust of TSA officials in only 2 years for transporting massive amounts of coc aine.

In November 2015, three former TSA agents were indicted on charges of defrauding the government and smuggling coc aine.

According to the indictment, 35-year-old Joseph Scott, 32-year-old Michael Castaneda, and 27-year-old Jessica Scott, all former TSA agents at San Francisco International Airport, were involved in an ongoing operation to help transport drugs through airport security.

If the cartels want to get an insider, they're going to. Not many people will turn down the kind of money they can throw around, simply for not searching for what they're not supposed to look for anyway. Or leaving a door open, or carrying a bag to work with you through a door and dropping it by someone.

So, was that coc aine that was found in the nose of that plane recently part of this I wonder?

It is almost impossible to stop these drugs from coming in the country. They can fill between the outer and inner shell of a hull of a boat. They can fill up the tractor tires full of drugs. There are so many ways they can get them in, especially if they come on ships from China or other big ships. There are big ports in Italy and other countries where they fill up big ships, these can contain hidden drugs. The drug enforcement people cannot check everything.

Yes, but there is much to be said for increasing the difficulty, and reducing the avenues that allow drugs to get in. Making things more manageable for authorities and reducing the ways drugs can get in, and forcing the cartels to need to put in more effort and cost to succeed, the less drugs will be available and the more expensive they'll be, and due to the avenues used, each time caught and stopped will result in a greater expense.

So sick the the, it won't stop literally everything, so there's no point mentality.

This all said I still think the best solution is to end the war on drugs and go full legal status.

But all the hype is about how bad pot is.

I love the ridiculousness that is the war on drugs.

Our government agencies transport billions in coc aine and heroin while cops shoot unarmed kids who have a bag of weed on them.

It'd be hilarious if it weren't true.

If a TSA screener ever refers to themselves as law enforcement, a cop, or any variation thereof, I hope everybody laughs at them. They can claim it all they want, but outside of Air Marshals they're not sworn and have no arrest powers.

Pot isn't a gateway drug, prescription narcotics like Oxycontin are.

Wonder how much heroin they are responsible for? Considering the said rate that it's coming into the US they just might be enablers as much as the other sources.

1 - ongoing conspiracy since BEFORE the TSA was even formed

2 - 12 people [ not at any national management level ] out of 10s thousand TSA staff

The war on drugs was simply a ruse to keep the prices up. If it was cheap and legal no one would bother.

No surprise here that the TSA is further corrupted by the drug prohibition, but the indictment going back 18 years seems odd, as the TSA has existed for less than 15 years.

The drug prohibition corrupts law enforcement and damages all of society. www.leap.cc...

The CIA has been in the illegal drug business for decades at least, probably since its inception. Gary Webb was quite right in his series Dark Alliance.
