Go Jefferson. I live up at the top of the State of Jefferson. Maybe go farther than that and go for a full blown Ecotopia.

To think, if the people pushing this got their way, and became a nation recognized by the U.N. how long would it take for them to sell themselves to the highest paid bidder to act in such ways toward the U.S. that would provoke the U.S. to act in a matter that all entry and means of trade and business on all its borders be hindered and blocked to create the desired effect of submission on the part of California? Lol states are prostitutes and the government is a pimp. California is out there to make uncle Sam his money.

This is serious, 21 counties have joined the movement to secede from the South. This latest shenanigans of trying to Secede from the US is making the State of Jefferson look better and better. We want out. We are sick of the madness. Sanctuary Cities, gun control, high speed rail, etc etc, The lower half of Oregon wants to join us. We want the monkey off our back.

Actually, Oregon and Washington would not like that.
The term "Californication" comes to mind. Or is that obsolete terminology?

Probably not.

I was thinking more Liberal/Conservative.

We want out.

Too bad. You can't.

Remember '60. (That's 1860, btw)

To some, that. in a general sense is what his maxi plan is in the first place. Break up the country enough that corporations and rich folk can just step in and take direct control of everything rather then relying on fluxuating politicians. Feudal states here we come.

They really should do more of an East - West split state.

That makes more sense.

Everytime I have to go down there I cringe. And every time I drive back along I 5 and pass that big old barn with The State of Jefferson on it I breath a sigh of relief.

As a native Northern Californian, the idea of having two states, north and south was always appealing to me. But I guess it depends on what we consider northern California. I don't know as those folks north of Redding would mind so much.

It might be cheaper to just take over all of Mexico and let Trump run it all.

I remember watching a movie about Cali seceding from the US... don't think it worked out so well.

I feel bad for those in cali who don't want to. This is one of those weird successions where it has as much if not more popular support outside of the land in question from the opposition.
Losing those ports is my only concern.
I'd also give any special person who wants to join the california socialist republic a free plane ticket and 5k. So many would hop at the opportunity finally believing socialist utopia is upon them.

Good point. I guess since we're going to leave Russia alone, we can aim our nukes at California. Shouldn't be anything to worry about, since President Donald J. Trump will be the one with the nuclear launch codes. Oh, wait, what?

As for the wall, that's no problem... we just make California pay for it or face 35% tariffs. Won't hurt us, since Portland and Seattle can take over Pacific imports. They'll be happy to get sell that new money in their states, I imagine.

TheRedneck

Portland and Seattle might quickly break away and form the lower end of the state of Cascadia.
Even have their own flag.

I'm waiting on the talks of that again. I don't see the interior(Eastern WA and OR) going quietly with the whole of Cascadia as it is let alone if CalExit was to encompass the whole of the coastal states. Not to forget a lot of the Western Wash. counties voted more red this election(2012 vs 2016 / Wiki info-more clarification of the counties which some look a bit off in that map), although they have less population comparatively. Wonder how that would weigh in on a proposal.

In order for a State to leave the Union doesn't 2/3 (38) of the other States have to sign off on it? I seriously don't see 38 other states letting California off the hook. Plus that would deny the citizens that don't want to leave their US citizenship. That itself could cause a civil war within the New territory.

I don't think people think things through like they should.

The Amendment needs to pass two-thirds of the House and senate and then be approved by at least 38 of 50 states.

What some people want and what they get often differs. The Civil War settled the take my toys and leave issue.

Maybe if they work real hard, they will get kicked out of the US.
