(CNN)President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are scheduled to speak on the phone Saturday in their first conversation since Trump took office, an administration official told CNN.

CNN

What will their conversation be like?

It looks like Trump wants warmer relations with Russia, probably reducing sanctions and letting them expand a bit into Europe, maybe work with them in Syria to restore Assad to power there and take out ISIS and the rebels. The only issue Trump has with Russia is nukes - both countries are in a renewed war to upgrade their nuclear capabilities. Will Trump pull out of the UN and NATO, further strengthening Russia?

The New York Times: Trump's Nuclear Tweet

Trump states that he wants to improve the country's nuclear weapons program. Meanwhile, Russia boasts that its weapons systems have been upgraded to today's standards while those in the U.S. are still using older computer systems.

Wikipedia: Annexation of Crimea by the Russian Empire

The Ukrainian territory of Crimea was annexed by the Russian Federation on 18 March 2014. Since then, the peninsula has been administered as two de facto Russian federal subjects—the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, which, until 2016, were grouped in the Crimean Federal District.[31] The annexation was preceded by a military intervention by Russia in Crimea, which took place in the aftermath of the 2014 Ukrainian revolution and was part of wider unrest across southern and eastern Ukraine.[32][33]

Will Russia continue to expand in the region? They may if they think Trump will be lax on his duties to defend the nations in the region from Russia.

Time: Here's the Evidence the Russians Hacked the Democratic National Committee

Read this to learn more about the Russian hacks and subsequent leaks that led to revelations that the DNC was not playing fair. Russia wanted Trump to win the election. Some have speculated that the two were working together, although there has not been any proof beyond that.

I'm sure they will be sourcing SNL in short order!

Only in 2017 is diplomacy thought of as subversion of the free world.

"Expand into Europe" haha what a joke. Warmer relations do not equate to allowing Russia to freely expand nor does Russia really seek to do so, but yes go on with the mass hysteria that we are in the Cold War without end.

Perhaps now the Great Divide between the West can finally mend. This is a good thing, good things to come.

They're talking.. that's a hell of a improvement from the last 16yrs

I'm guessing they're going to talk about how to co-operate on destroying ISIS in Syria.
How to create safe zones for civilians
I'm guessing they'll discuss trade and how to improve relations
They'll probably even laugh at the stupidity of America's media and the pee'gate story
Trump might apologise for the past relationship set by Bush and Obama and offer respect in return for respect.
I'm also guessing they'll start slowly preparing for an alliance in the war with China.

Russia is currently under sanctions for invading Crimea. Trump said he is willing to lift those sanctions, therefore forgiving them (in exchange for something like reducing their nuclear capabilities). This could mean he would be okay with them invading Ukraine further, although this seems unlikely.

Overall, I think cooperating with Russia is a good idea, especially if we can cooperate to rebuild the Middle East a bit.

How come the MSM never flipped out when Putin vacationed both at the Bush ranch and with them in Maine?

Bush and Putin were buds. Hung out at the Olympics too.

Maybe they'll talk about this.

...a top Russian spy who is the number two person in the FSB department which allegedly oversaw the US election hacking operation had been arrested and charged with treason. Was he a sacrificial lamb and olive branch to Trump? A way for Putin to claim that his spy services had perhaps gone rogue? Or was he suspected of being a source to US intelligence? People who fall from grace in Putin's Russia are often dealt with with trumped up criminal prosecutions. But treason is a special charge.

A double agent?

From the Moscow Times ...
A top cybersecurity specialist in Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) was arrested on Wednesday reportedly on suspicion of leaking information to the U.S. intelligence community — a bombshell accusation that, if true, would mean Washington had a spy in the heart of Russia’s national defense infrastructure.

The plot thickens....

But this immediately poses the question: if Mikhailov was a US asset, how was he compromised? Did the information put out by US intelligence somehow lead to his exposure? Without putting too fine a point on it, a number of close advisors to President Trump are being scrutinized for ties to Russia. Some of them participated in the intelligence briefings the President receives.

Think McCain and Graham are going to insist to be able to listen in and control the mute / disconnect button?

When Trump tweets what a great chat he had and that he will withdraw out troops from Poland will McCain and Graham melt down and go critical?

Russia is currently under sanctions for invading Crimea.

Russia did not invade Crimea. I imagine that Putin will ask him to reign in the CIA and not to undertake such stupid ideas as to overthrow the legitimate government voted in by the people.

Crimea voted and the vote was not unexpected in any way.

As per the then recently reiterated agreement on Russia having its Fleet in Crimea, it had tens of thousands of troops already legally stationed there.

Hopefully, all of the Sanctions will be lifted! If The US, Russia and China can work together then we have a chance of a long lasting peace on his planet of ours.

Nah, Narcissists believe their own hype.

Trump probably believes Putin is waiting for him with open arms and feels privileged to meet him (Trump).

Trump is so out of his league.
