Breaking :

In reply to a question asked by former Labour Minister Michael Meacher MP in the House of Commons this afternoon on whether the Prime Minister would take the opportunity to catagorically rule out British support or involvement in any U.S. / Israel attack on Iran, the Prime Minister declined to rule out future British involvement in any attack on Iran replying instead that international concerns were legitimate and that it was important to send a clear message to Iran on the disputed issues.

Why wouldn't he rule it out ??

Hedging his bets.
At a time when the EU is taking the diplomatic route, Blair still doesn't want to piss off his boss in DC by siding with either.
That's what always p*@%$s me off about politicians, they just can't give a straight answer to anything.. ever

Agree with you there. The politician cannot give an answer in absolute terms because to say yes would be going even further than the US position todate. To say no would raise unanswerable questions over participation in Iraq in the first place.

I thin he wouldn't rule it out because he was in on the plan all along however he doesn't want to have large amount of protests. Let’s face it, this would be, once again an attack on a sovereign nation led by the US. This is however an issue that should be solved diplomatically.

I dont understand why everyones jumping the gun...3 years ago the US was supposed to invade Cuba...then North Korea...now Iran...relax before jumping to conclusions...our army is stretched between Iraq and Afghan right now...it wont go a third way anytime soon...

The answer is in your post:

the Prime Minister declined to rule out future British involvement in any attack on Iran replying instead that international concerns were legitimate and that it was important to send a clear message to Iran on the disputed issues.

Diplomacy can still work. Will Iran allow the IAEA and/or the UN unfettered access to inspect their nuclear facilities? Time is of the essence..the longer Iran can stall Europe, the more time they have to complete their Russian-backed nuclear weapons program.

agreed the US is stetched at the moment but nothing will happen over the next few months anyway at least until the UK elections are over and Blair would never get back in again if we went to war with Iran! We don't trust him as it is.

If only there was an alternative to Labour. Then Blair wouldnt think twice about ruling it out.

I'm reasonably certain that we are already trying diplomacy. Diplomacy doesn't always work. There are people in the world who do not accept reasonable solutions. There are people who won't be talked out of murdering whoever they want. There are people who don't care what everyone else thinks about bringing mass destruction on a nation just because it's Hebrew, or Kurdish, or whatever ethnicity is stylish to hate these days. The people who do these things are too dangerous to be allowed to remain among the living.

For these people, peace is not an option as long as they refuse to stop. We can keep sending the diplomats, but if Iran continues to play games we cannot continue to play along.
