Kudos to all the super sleuths that have been hunkering down for days going through the Podesta emails. There is no denying that they like to use weird code speak to throw off the scent. Some emails are vague, some can have two meanings, some are innocuous and some are mixed with subtly and mediocrity. But this, this is just down right chilling. I've been reading most if not all the threads and I have yet to see this one come up here. I discovered it at reddit and i will include the comments decrypting the language.

emailid/26263

Georgetown Law Faculty and Staff, My parents are visiting this weekend, and I need to sell my enormous collection of beanie babies! I've approximately 480 little creatures of joy, and I'm selling each one for $20.00. You must buy all 480, though. It is a collection (not an auction)... They are very respectful and amicable with one another, and they are (for the most part) cat and dog friendly. Some are sassier than others, naturally. Please let me know! My parents can't find out.

Reddit user:

It's a code phrase. The 480 could be the ages of the children which fits with how spread apart a typical family's children are. Thus, we can ascertain that there are 3 kids that are aged 4, 8, and 10. The $20.00 is also coded. It could represent $2,000 because no one I know writes out twenty dollars like that. We all write it $20 and leave the decimal and last two zeroes off. This means each child is $2,000 and for the entire "collection" it'll be $6,000. When the sender writes it's a collection and not an auction, you know that this is a package deal with the prices non-negotiable. The rest is about their personalities which is odd because children's toys do not have any personality. I'm going to go throw up now because I'm a child sexual abuse survivor.

This email was sent to [email protected] from someone at law.georgetown.edu and not to someone specific. This is an alarm to me as well. What say you?

This would imply 3 children are being sold for $60. Right?

*edit: sorry, I sped read the 2nd part.

*Who sells a collection of beanie babies because their parents are visiting?
*Who anthropomorphizes beanie babies to the extreme that they are cat and dog friendly?
*Why can't the parents find out?
Very weird.

But.
It could just be an email meant to be silly.

It's definitely pretty creepy, there's another one where they mention three names, their ages, and the fact that they will be in a heated pool for entertainment.

This alone (giving them personalities ) is enough to prove it's code and it's not cool.

Of all the recent threads and connection ands inside sources this quote right here is the most convincing that the long suspected # is true .
Sad times

This whole thing is very unsettling again I have to say that in my years of existence, I have not been as shook by anything as these emails.

It honestly makes me noxious.. In no context should there be discussion about the trade of a beinnie baby collection in government emails.. Much less in creepy code.. x.x

I don't read anything in this. It sounds like someone selling beanie babies.

That's one of the harmless ones I spoke about. I don't think we're reading into that one properly. Just my opinion. I saw a blog with Luzzato holding her three grand kids as babies talking about going to the farm. It's a regular thing

Well, yeah. That one shows subjects. This show possible sale terms.

They're both needed.

On another note, this looks like a joke note.

Someone aide me in the anxiety I am having right now. I can't... (CTRL + Scroll to zoom in if you can't read.)

Kat,
That handkerchief is my sketch for Level 5 of Castle Eisendorf.
Brock's rogue is trapped in a water-chamber and Hillary's sorcerer is almost out of spells and HP!
They're going to face a Glabrezu with 180 HP--I rolled!) and I doubt Mook's Paladin is up for it but if he can get back together with Sid's #ing munchkin'd Dragonborn Barbarian.

High drama--Can't wait! I've got a bunch of new WhizKids figurines that I've custom moded. Reapers. Red Skeletons. And Pit Fiends. Gonna have the room lit with sandalwood scented candles and a couple of vintage Lava-Simplex Lava Lamps for atmosphere! So I don't need the map, I've got a scan of it--but make sure the others don't get a look. I know Mook especially plays for *any* advantage he can get. Haha! I want to see them squirm! Oh, and don't worry about the pizza. I think we're ordering Chinese tonight. John "Killer DM" Pod

Is it possible they are really just playing D&D?? Like..

Once upon a time there were a few secretaries down in the secretarial pool who were beanie baby fetishists. They anthopomorphised the beanie babies and bought enormous numbers of the things. So weirdness and beanie babies is something I have encountered.

That said, there are several issues in this email that go beyond the weird. Others have noted them above, but I have a dim memory from being briefed on arrests in a child pornography case where "the parents are coming" and "the parents can't know" were part of the coded messages used. I have tried to recall the case, but I have yet to dredge it up.

I desperately want "beanie baby" to mean "beanie baby" in this email and for all of this to simply be another incident of beanie baby weirdness. But alas this is one that needs to be flagged and investigated by authorities.

Being from a family of incest...not me but further up the line and seeing the devastation and sometimes continued perversion to each individual, this kinda freaks me out. What exactly are they asking/saying.

It does seem be coded. Who asks that much for a beanie baby?

The funny (peculiar, not ha ha) thing about this email is that it was leaked word-for-word via Reddit's "Cringe pics" subreddit on the very day it was originally sent (30 July 2015).

You can read what Uproxx had to say about it here.

Checking it out, the Reddit user who originally posted the email has been deleted, so it's not possible to glean any further clues.

Odder and odder. But it could be that Mr Mattingly is just a very odd person, or it was his idea of a joke.

Well on ebay they seem to go for anywhere between $1 to $1.8 million. But D&D? Hillary's sorcerer is low on HP? Who is the sorcerer, and does low on HP mean low on funds? It's surreal.

Well, to be fair, the "code" of it being three children and the asking price is just someone's interpretation of what was being said. The words actually say there are 480 of them...that's a lot of beanies, and depending on which ones they are, they can be pretty pricey. If you go by that one interpretation, yeah, it seems sinister...but we don't know for a fact that's what was being said here.

It's bizarre, but people are bizarre...and beanie baby people are very strange about their beanies, trust me on this. I'm not saying that it's not possible, but I think taking some random reddit user's interpretation as factual information is a mistake. It could be anything...or nothing at all.
