The last time Russia attacked a scandinavian country it hurt them.

Of course they won. But not without some wounds.

If I were Russia I wouldn't be so hasty.

with trump as president, it'll be a walk in the park....look out Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Ukraine...you're next

Are you familiar with NATO? Article 5? No need of US troops to invoke NATO response if any member state is attacked. 330 marines are deterrence?

Why the hell would anyone in their right mind would want to leave a possbile path for russians to try something? Putin understands strength, that's it. If he sees a slightest weakness in NATO and their willingness to defend it's smallest members, he will try something. Plain and simple. But if there's a risk that at least one soldier of US, UK, Canada or any other important member of NATO dies in these countries, there will be zero doubt of NATOs will for defending it's members. THAT'S the deterrence you're not able to see.

1. Russia have no interest in attacking any NATO member state (or any other - Donbass, Crimea?)
2. NATO is already weak, but it doesn't matter because of 1

BTW, What are US marines doing in Norway?

The propaganda coming from Russia's kremlin controled local news channels directed at russians living in Russia and the neighboring countries gives the complete opposite idea.

So real intents of USA are what CNN/FOX/Bla are saying?

Please let think for a while. What would Russia gain by attacking any NATO member state? Troubles? I can not imagine anything else. Why they would do it?

The most epic victory for Putin would be if NATO wouldn't risk war with Russia and leave it's smaller members defensless. If that happened, NATO would be done. That is the ultimate goal Russia has. That's why deterrence tactic is the best possible way for keeping balance. Both sides are using it right now.

Facts? If these were facts the missiles would have already been launched. He won't do anything.

Why would Russia attack Norway or Baltic states or any other country?

You are living in McCarthy era worldview.

Why do they hold massive armed forces drills right along bordering NATO states? Oh right, to instil fear and prepare their military.

Considering how Russia treated is old USSR satellite states, no wonder Poland, Lithuania and now Norway are begging for forward forces deployed on their land.

Less than 30 years ago, the Soviets would reward those trying to flee over the wall for a better life in the West with a bullet in the back. And Putin was KGB. Hell, Putin still has political rivals and critics assassinated or jailed.

Just ask ex world chess champion Garry Kasparov.

330 Marines isn't exactly a major deterrent.

This looks like ridiculous and belligerent threatening of an otherwise peaceful nation.

On the one hand this is the usual Russian response to US expansionism via NATO. On the surface it appears all out of proportion as a response.

However, if we clear out the usual haze around these things, the message is clear: "If you choose to stand with our enemies, we will destroy you with our enemies."

That is simple enough to understand.

Maybe they are all DARPA units filled with nanites that after exploding on the Russian border, the nanites slowly digest all of Russia, bit by bit.

Similar in a way to the ice storms last year over USA that contained those black objects that were flammable.

Nobody is getting nuked. Yes it is "doom porn" . You really need to take a chill pill. Even if the US positioned 2,000 Marines in Norway nothing is going to happen. Nobody is getting nuked over perfectly normal and routine troop movements and deployments.

You do realize that Open Skies Treaty reconnaissance flights are continuing.

Russia threatening a non nuclear armed country with nukes... Go figure.. More evidence Putin is out of touch and a danger. A new poll in Russia shows about 50% of Russians fear Russian actions in Syria will trigger WWIII.

Putin needs to go.

Perhaps it's the US regime that has to go.

It is after all the greatest threat to world peace.

The greatest threat to world peace is the US....sad but true. Not so much in a nuclear confrontation with Russia, that's just the usual proxy war shell game. It's that insidious sea of exceptional calumny that is the American regime, supported by all the usual suspects of course. Doesn't matter how you dress it or point the finger at everyone else. The emperor has no clothes.
