Use to be just starving a populace would cause revolutionary action. However, now you would have to "starve" EVERYONE of their 'comfort zone' conveniences. That means ANYTHING that people use as a fall back to justify it can't, won't and in most cases, shouldn't happen.

Technology is great, but it's also a great tool to instill apathy and even sympathy for those that are knowingly ruining everything. Most people really don't care about our political system. In 2008, 80+ million people didn't even vote! That's close to a third of our population that year! I get it...the whole electoral college thing, but my point is that many people either are fed up or not engaged. That's a huge problem, but not for TPTB. For them it's an amazing advantage to limit access to government without lifting a finger. A lot of things are not working, but a lot of things certainly are unfortunately, and they're not in favor of the people.

That being said, we are being systematically whittled down to acquiesce to an agenda not of our own making, but we are damn sure letting it happen. It is being flown right over heads as we stare down into our "devices", blissfully oblivious as long as we can stay "connected".

As bad as this government may be, it would have to get much worse to get the average Joe truly pissed. It wouldn't even be the government they would be pissed about.....let those "conveniences" start to shut down and then MAYBE folks would have an issue.

That's the most disheartening truth about it really.

Trump would have a beer with Putin. Hillary would launch missiles at him.

We don't need a revolution because if Trump wins we have one and if Hillary wins we all die in a nuclear holocaust. That really is the bottom line on this election.

It will take not needing to win in order to stand up against what is wrong.

Standing alone if necessary.

Fighting, not just with force, though never shy from it if it must be forceful, but with every ounce of you. Body, mind and soul because it is what your heart tells you.

When people do that, not even gods can stop them.

So what will it take for us to over throw our government
We can start with.
An amendment to the constitution to get money out of politics, and over turn Citizens United, corporations are not people.
Term limits for Congress and Senate I say 8 yrs max.
(both State and Local)
End Super delegates like the Dems have.
Equal air time is free to all candidates.
Debates should be open to all.
Open primaries.
Same day registration same day voting if necessary.
Participate in government one may not become a lobbyist.
The above will not solve all our problems but will put us on the right track.

In my opinion the best way to correct the problem is not to overthrow the government but to circumvent the government by creating a system within the current system.... an independent society started as a nonprofit organization with an earth-friendly infrastructure.. a system with no form of currency that would have no incentive for corruption.

you may want to rethink this whole thing.....

if the "government" believed it was seriously in jeopardy from an uprising of some sort the psychopaths would use their "nuclear options" which may even include a nuclear option lol

seriously though, there is no way to take over violently so you can forget that...

and taking over from within.....well, im sure many have tried that.....being bullied, bought off, co opted....are all the specialty of the elite.....they WILL get to you one way or the other......

i think a more reasonable approach and really the only one that would work is to start small, local, forming networks of likeminded people who want to create their own micro economies and take over local politics to have a degree of self determination at the community level.

Once this is accomplished you can start reaching out to other communities in your county or state that are attempting to do the same things.

Things aren't the best they could be but you Americans have no idea about doing it hard. The mere fact that you can write such a thread with zero repercussions speaks volumes.

Most Americans that want a revolution, don't want to die doing it...

So it will never happen.

Having a computer hack would be a great advantage,as the US has us under survelliance, micro wave towers hidden etc, there death ray they been hitting flocks of birds with, get control of that, would need some in armed forces to side with you, otherwise we are like a video game, they watch us on screen and watch us being destroyed, even the Chinese have us on Google,we are penned in already, just can't see the fences

What will it take?

Well that is a damned good question. You have seen successive governments contribute to economic crises, to illegal war making, the creation of proxy armies dressed up as enemies, the removal of your privacy via the Echelon, PRISM, and other systems, the systematic division of the population along contrived lines, scapegoating of religious and ethnic minorities, the deliberate removal of an expectation to earn a wage from the work one does. Your taxes pay for murder, both of your own citizens (during "terror attacks") and those of other nations, your candidates are criminals, your congress complicit in stagnating your political process.

Essentially, the time to act was fifteen or twenty years ago. When George Bush sent the United States to war with Iraq, there should have been a revolution. When Congress repeatedly refused to allow Obama to close Guantanamo Bay, and repatriate, release, or find US based locations in which to store the remaining "dangerous" individuals housed at the Cuban prison camp, there should have been a revolution. When the banking crisis occurred, and the governments of the West bailed out the banks, at the expense of the taxpayer, there should have been a revolution.

And yet, here we are in 2016, with things only getting worse, people only becoming more divided along racial, political and religious lines, trenches getting deeper and more full, both of the dead and the living. This is WHY there has been no revolution. Your people are not united against the centre, they are not united against the threats they face, but are in a stand off with one another, a stand off created and stage managed by the very people who are your real enemies, the powerful, the influential, the creators and architects of the scenario you find yourselves in. For revolution to be effective, meaningful, and have any chance at any form of success, it must be a revolution in which not just the majority, but nearly ALL the citizens are involved. No small faction will have the numbers to do anything more than mildly inconvenience the government. Any such effort would require unity between more than seventy percent of the people of the United States, and probably more like ninety percent, because your government is the most intensely powerful, rich, and militarily capable governments that has ever been constructed. They have access to intelligence gathering apparatus so advanced as to make effective communication between elements of any opposition to it, as transparent as glass, as easy to read as the most common typeface, easier to find than a best seller in a bookstore. They have access to such weapons as to make any hardened site, any bunker, building, or fortification you could make utterly irrelevant. They have agents in all the major activist groups, pushing people away from one another, and access to resources of manpower so trained and deadly that to face them without an overwhelming majority of support would be a fools game.

Essentially, by keeping your people divided, the government and its owners prevent your being able to amass enough power to counter theirs in even the slightest and most rudimentary fashion. There should be no doubt in your mind that revolution is necessary, but with things as they are, it is also impossible to succeed.

Seriously what will it take?

Our government is corrupt and rotten to the core. They no longer serve the people or have our best interest when taking office. I no longer believe either party will do whats best for the people of this country. They are in it for themselves and their rich corporate buddies. Greed officially runs this place.

Trump is an idiot and Hillary is conniving skank. When will we stop electing greedy businessmen and greedy lawyers?

Comcast Verizon JP Morgan Wells Fargo Walmart Bank of America. THEY OWN OUR GOVERNMENT AND THEY OWN YOU.

I'm 40 years old. Our grandparents built this country into what is was after WW2. The past 20 years I've watched everything they build get systematically taken away and destroyed by those at the top.

Each generation seems willing to except less then the previous generation.

Depends on what you mean by "overthrowing a government".

Violent overthrow? People have to lose a lot more - or risk losing a lot more - before that will become a real risk. There will be lots of bluster and posturing (mostly online), a few ghetto thugs might take the opportunity to do some looting (under the pretense of protesting/BLM/etc) if Trump wins, but that's it.

Political overthrow? In some ways that is what you currently see with Trump. Not because Trump is necessarily better (or worse) than what you currently have, but because he is showing that it can be done. If he can break the back of the media and triumph over established parties (because let's face it, he's fighting against both the Dems and the GOP at this stage) then he is creating an opening that others can use in the future.

Trump might suck as a candidate, but he represents a wedge being driven into the existing political establishment. That's a far more likely route to recapturing a runaway government than stocking up on guns and ammunition.

I made this thread, it's like a check list or a gauge of how close we are to revolution. What made the founding fathers leave Great Britain?

Causes and Necessity of taking up Arms

"Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of taking up Arms" written July 6, 1775, was a declaration by the Representatives of the United Colonies of North-America setting forth the causes and necessity of their taking up arms. Based on this document compared with our situation in the United States today, how close are we to the situation that our forefathers had when they declared they were taking arms?

Too much and too many to work. It would take over half and more of the population which was way smaller in the Colonial days and Civil war days.

We have so many opposing factions, militias, anti and pro-government movements...that I think it'd be hard to get everyone on the same page when all have their own agendas....

Who will fill the void tho?do you believe millions of people will just peacefully live together when all institutions collapse as a result.i never hear people giving alternatives of monetary system and many other issues there governments have created bit they ready to destroy..not that I like the government I think outsmarting them will bring them to their knees like teaching kids how to survive and be self reliant from birth.start by disconnecting you electricity and install a solar panel system so your bills may disappear.

And fellow citizens!

A lot of them.
That might be problematic. Ask the Bundy boys.

Nahh you just need to go to your local store, bank or your
own boss.... Ask them if they like the way things are...

The only thing that would WORK for real, to change a system
is unification. That ALL thinks alike, and WANTS change.....

To many opinions.....
