Well, ya. Those are fake as everyne knows Fort Knox is either empty or contains gold filled bars. Which we once sent China when they called in a loan. Er, gold covered bars.Ouch, embarassing.

I meant our gold borders. Not really indicative of anything since the star bug hasn't been fixed.

I know, it just reminded me of gold bars. I reached the WATS score required, though. I wasn't here during the glitch. I don;t have an inflated star count.

Congrats. The bug, by the way, only hits those that were registered before the star system. I found out how to reproduce it and as far as I know, SO has it fixed already. There is a way to restore them but for that ATS has to be taken offline/domain redirect to let the script run through. It´s not unrisky either.

Edit:: I stand corrected by Augustus, there is yet another cause, it seems. Regardless, it´s possible to restore them all by going through each and every post of every member and sum them up. (#load of queries)

I noticed them too! Congrats!! I'm still not 100% sure what that means, but it looks good on you.

I went "bright green" after a thread took off and became well-read. That just happened recently and I was so surprised, squinting at my avatar thinking, huh, it wasn't always that green, was it? Lol!!

Seems to me saying those folks that were just "incarnated" with them didn't somehow deserve them because of some greater inner superiority is just wrong.

The overall star count does not matter, I give stars to honor a "thank you" or for good posts or good posts that reflect or challenge my opinion. When I get them for posts or if I skim over the pages and look at other posts stars it can tell you how the majority thinks about the topic. I think that´s what the star system is intended for. The only thing that´s off is the value under your post, it should not affect anyone. With saying that, I would be totally okay with removing the total star count statistic. It would restore the meaning of stars.

I think people know who the better contributors are so even with the glitch it shouldn't make a difference. There are posters whose threads I will click on regardless of the topic since I know it will be a good read.
