It's actually something so silly, so simple and something I never really noticed until this week.

I don't pay much attention to names in threads and I'm normally on my phone, so I don't see avatars and signatures, but I paid attention this week to who I'm responding to in different threads, and it was kind of funny how I can disagree with one person, on one topic so much, but then agree with the same person, just as much, on a completely different one.

No one has to reply to this, but I thought I'd share what I found, because I can

Too many take things too seriously.

It's not like you get a trophy at the end of each thread.

That's very true!

I'm also guilty of taking things too seriously AND having some need to "win" an argument/debate. I think we all are, to some degree.

Everyone wants to have their opinion validated.

The only way to do that is to "beat" someone with an opposing opinion.

But if you don't have the worry of winning, if you're confident in your opinion, then "winning" is secondary.

But we're all human.

The mods promised to FedEx them, but they haven't arrived yet.

Sometimes, I would say that the need to "win", regardless of confidence, can sometimes over shadow the need to be right.

We are indeed

I'm not, but you can have the technicality of a win

As for your trophy? I think I saw someone running away with it.

The thread was not over, he don't deserve another yet...

(Indigent use trophy to drink beer and other desecrating business before returning it to the organization, trophy saw things, it will never be the same)

I strongly encourage you to work on the need to "win"/"be correct" in an argument/debate, my friend. Quite frankly the primary motivation for me has always been truth--if I am wrong and my opponent is correct, I have learned something new and adjust my knowledgebase accordingly. Seeking only the truth and not wanting to "win" or be "correct" will honestly be much better for your mind; you will be less likely to be biased as a result of emotions, etc.

Your original post confuses me a great deal. You begin by explaining how you usually use ATS on your cell and you don't pay much attention to the names and signatures of the people in the threads you post in. At this point, I had already decided in my mind what your next sentences were going to say. Something about how associating an image with a person may cause some sort of biased interaction with them. Instead you follow up by saying you disagree with people on some things and agree with them on others. Does not compute.

You're ATS'ing wrong! You're supposed to 100% disagree with 100% of the members 100% of the time!

I think one of the most interesting things about my ATS visits is how I rarely encounter the same members.

I mean there's a couple gold-level members that post in EVERY thread...but otherwise I am constantly seeing new 'faces.'

I disagree with you.

Also there can no be new members when a few threads ago it was determined that we all are Jerry.

What part? The part where I was joking?

Or the part where I wasn't?

Also there can no be new members when a few threads ago it was determined that we all are Jerry.

What's the deal with that?!

Op made a thread titled I'm me, don't ask me anything and basically it fried our brains because agaist all odds we are me too, so the mees formed a Borg like collective but to avoid lawsuits me decided to be named Jerry, not that Jerry...

I disagree we disagree 100%, and I prove it by desagreeing, brain fried a la I'm me style.
