umm
won't they just go to another port ?
how stupid
there aren't that many ports down this way that do the channel crossing, Calais ,Dunkirk, Boulogne and Dieppe (I'm sure there's another but cant
think of the name) all on the French/Belgium side but not all of them come to dover some go to Ramsgate
as far as security goes, Calais/Dover is the best bet for them to cross the channel, there's more crossings per day between the 2 ports then any
other port. Because its so busy customs can only check a few trucks out of every boat load which is around 150+ trucks plus cars, the turn around
time for each boat is 45mins to an hour before its sailing again and there's normally 2 - 4 boats in the harbour at any time, during the summer
holidays there can even be a small queue of boats outside the port so the customs guys are totally over stretched and need more man power
Just remembered, Ostend, that's the other French port
