Some stuff are useful to society, some are not...

No one can deny that having a broken society and access to guns are a stupid combination, a lot of countries figured that out a long time a go, only the US and a few other countries are still lacking behind because of "stubborn" people and an outdated document that hasn't followed time.

To many people lose their right to life in the US because of this, 50 just lost their rights another 53 almost.

Tomorrow more people will lose their rights, because of a silly unnecessary piece of equipment, kind of sad when you people constantly screaming about rights.

These numbers could be much lower if you actually used your brain, idiocracy is real in the US, and it's not going to change.

Yes, people die for other reasons, though that doesn't make the Gun topic a non issue, it is an issue that should be dealt with but it's not, just talking heads.

How many people lose their rights to life in countries where the people don't have guns and are killed in masses by the leaders they expect to guarantee their right to life. Tyranny knows no bounds if there is nothing for these people to fear. Our government - our constitution - is the longest living document in current history and part of that reason is that our founders knew the need for a populace able to defend itself from a tyrannical government. It was so important to them that it was the 2nd amendment (not the 6th, 9th or 20th) right behind one's freedom to speak, assemble and worship whichever God they choose. The moment your new progressive movement achieves what they want is the moment this country has surrendered.

Many Americans are not interested in how many people die, they want their gun/s, no matter what consequence befall others. American society is not making it as hard as it possibly can to obtain a gun, and while this remains the case, gun rampages will continue to occur.

There will always be senseless violence but IMO, once we get rid of democratic leadership in this country, this nonsense will reduce in frequency once again. It's all part of a hidden agenda and those who wish to eliminate gun ownership in this country have high hopes while Obummer is in office. He only has 6 months left so the effort will see a raise in the stakes, just as we saw the democrats trying to shout down Paul Ryan earlier this week.

Wouldn't it be better to find the cause of the broken society??

Perhaps the people behind the broken society are the same ones trying to take your guns away??

Yes, ban them, for the children, don't you know!!!/sarcasm

Excellent example of the illogical stance of the anti-gunners.

queenofswords:

Is there a mass psychosis going on?

Yes, there is. It's called the 'I want to own a gun syndrome'. Out of a fear of 'what if...?', many Americans think they need to have a gun. Actually, they don't 'think', they absolutely 'believe' they do. If it is not criminals, or terrorists, it's the government they have to be armed against, yet, I have only come across one or two reports where a home owner has defended him/herself against an intruder. I have yet to see a report where a gun owner has defended him/herself against a terrorist attack or against successive government administrations that have diluted or done away with constitutional rights. Not one single gun owner has defended the constitution against previous government administrations. Simply put, gun owners own a gun for their own self-interests, and not that of the nation as a whole. The NRA do not want to see a cure for this psychosis, but would much prefer to see all America infected by it. What a boost to their profits that would be!

I am not here to tell Americans they cannot and should not be able to own a gun, but I will seek to nullify the myths that are correlated to reasons as to why they should. Take a look at the following...

www.gunviolencearchive.org...

...all these gun-related incidents are for 2016 only, so yes indeed, shamefully, there really is a psychosis.

Do you honestly think "banning" weaponry stops criminals or terrorists?

No I do not. However, America is no longer the 'wild west' any more, it is supposed to be a modern sophisticated society enjoying all the benefits that should bring, but a large swathe of its people are so constantly fearing and jumping at shadows and 'what if...' scenarios that owning a gun is more like a comfort blanket rather than a means to actually defend oneself.

Only law enforcement agencies are trained in the right techniques and authorised for dealing with criminals and terrorists, ordinary people owning a gun are not. I can understand the logic for wanting and owning a gun to defend against a home invasion (which comes with its own perils), but for 'concealed carrying' in a non-law enforcement capacity in a public place I do not. One is just as likely to shoot innocent people trying to get out the way (regardless of one's own confidence in shooting a non-moving target on the range), than to stop a perp on a rampage. The gun does not defend you against terrorist bomb attacks. If a genuine terrorist wants to being death and destruction to your door, they will find a way and do it, and no amount of guns owned will stop them.

The Orlando gunman would not have been stopped by an ordinary gun owner, certainly not in a such a crowded bar, and certainly not without harm against innocents trapped in the cross-fire. The Orlando gunman was able to easily purchase guns, it wasn't difficult for him to obtain the weaponry. One thing is for certain, anyone buying a gun is not doing so just to admire it, they are buying it for the sole purpose to inflict harm, whether in defence or not. The gun seller does not know how the weapon they are selling will be used (if at all). The gun seller does not know if the buyer has any mental or emotional problems, or if he has an IS affiliated belief. One wonders if they'd give a damn anyway, as they would want the sale.

Being able to buy a gun legally should literally take months while background checks are made on the buyer, and that includes those who already own guns and are seeking to buy another. Even after purchase when all the checks have been made, further reviews and checks should take place after interim periods. Mental and emotional stability is not fixed and rigid, it waxes and wanes over time. We each of us, gun owner and non-gun owner, are subject to weakened emotional and mental states throughout our lives, so checks need to be constantly made for the suitability of gun ownership.

Americans need to find a way to wean themselves off the addiction they have of 'fear', and right now they have no inclination to do so, and the rampages will continue, and the gun violence archive will grow with statistics.

Or just like 15-year olds want to get drunk, they will get drunk. When a person wants something, they will get it. We humans are pretty efficient that way.

Ok, but by comparison, what is the purpose of a match, a knife and a gun?

Matches were created to help us quickly and efficiently create fires, something essential to us; cooking, building, fabrication, protection, warmth.

Knives were created to help us cut things; food, resources for building and often as a weapon. But that is not what it was primarily designed for or used for, though nowadays often is.

Guns were made one one purpose only - to kill things. That's it. That's what is was designed for. While it is used for defense and recreation, it was conceived and designed to kill people.

So yes the ACTION taken by a person using an inanimate object decides the outcome -- but dont say that a gun is onnocent of its use. It was only designed to kill. The other two examples were not.

Guns were indeed designed to kill things... animals for food. Just as a match and a knife can be used outside of its ultimate purpose, so can a gun and that is to kill people.

Yeah, that's right. I propose we ban all matches because they light too damn many fires. How many fires have resulted in deaths of Americans. Enough is enough. Sure, you may need a match to light a campfire, but hey, that match could light a forest fire. Sure, you may need to light the pilot on your stove, but that match could burn down your whole damn house. No more. We need "Matches Control" because matches burn things, not people, they don't burn things, only matches do.

End sarcasm.

Folks, guns don't kill people just as matches don't kill people. People who want a gun will still get a gun just like people who want heroin will still get heroin. Yeah!

Let's ban cars.

Ban alcohol again.

Ban tobacco too.

Ban all doctors to prevent malpractice,over-medicating/under-medicating/mis-medicating/unmedicating and misdiagnosis.

Ban all pies on the chance that one pie might have salmonella,e coli, or staphylococcus.

Ban everything!
Keeping you safe via more government.

That is the logic of the "outlaw guns" people.

Right, guns do not kill people, neither do RPGs ATGMs, MANPADs.

I demand to be able to buy and own those weapons legally too. Because weapons don't kill people!

I need them to protect myself against... Moslems and Mexicans and and for hunting.
