He's a comedian. He's joking while drunk. He lives a pretty solitary life with his family in Montana, no need to fake his own death.

Being that he's retired, a multi-millionaire, has no plans of ever returning to the airways...and lives in a far-away-from-town mountainous area on a ranch...he doesnt need to fake anything.
