That plan was probably halted quickly when they realized the dent in their income when the fraud was stopped.

No wonder this administration wants to keep letting in more illegal immigrants.

I simply don't understand why some sworn to uphold the laws of the land would encourage they be broken. He may not agree with the laws and if that is the case then don't take the job.

Do we really need anymore reason to abolish the IRS? They collect taxes that don't go to our Government, but to foreign bankers. They target individuals and organizations at the whim of this corrupt administration. Now they support breaking the law to help people that are themselves breaking the law.

Abolish the IRS NOW!

I agree. I know a person who knows another person that also went to the DMV dept of motor vehicles and got a divers license. He was here on a expired visa. He now works in the US and drives.

I don't get it

If you are wondering if the IRS uses the information from those who apply for the ITIN number to later deport them, no they do not.

Which I personally believe is a reasonable stance on the part of the government.

Just like, if an illegal alien calls the police because of a crime, or appears in court for a specific reason, the government also will not use that to deport them.

That would actually just encourage abuse and mistreatment of illegal immigrants. Imagine a woman in an abusive relationship, or who has been raped by someone. Would you rather not she have the freedom to report the crime to the police and appear in court, without the fear of being deported? If you disagree, then you realize you are helping predators prey on those people, and that would actually increase abuse and criminal activity against them.

As far as I know, it may be different, but the government will leave you alone if you are an illegal immigrant, unless you are caught in criminal conduct.

Well, that's the only news agency I can find that is reporting on that story. Everything links back to the "Washington Examiner" which is owned by Philip Anschutz, a known hardcore, radical right-wing, big oil entrepreneur...who brought us "The Foundation For a Better Life" campaign (among other things).
Wikipedia Biography

I'd like to see which bits and pieces are being intentionally left out. I see there is a CSPAN video, perhaps watching that boring video might yield a bit more impartial information.

I have a sinking feeling this article is pretty dang biased and leaving out crucial bits of testimony in order to push an agenda.

So.... what happens when it is time to retire?
Who's social security benefits are they stealing?

What happens when they apply for a credit card? Loans?
Health insurance?
Who's credit rating are they ruining?

Seriously, the stupidity of the IRS boggles the mind.
As long as the government gets their taxes, who cares about the little people?

How about incredibly bright and smart? Continue their agenda with no consequences because we let them. = Brilliant.

FROM 2013:
This audit covers a period of 2007-2009...At THAT time the IRS only "hindered efforts to stop illegals from misusing SSNs"...encouraging that misuse must have evolved since 2009.

SSA Inspector General: IRS ‘Hindered’ Efforts to Stop Illegals from Misusing Social Security Numbers
Published on 08-31-2013 12:02 PM

An audit report published this month by the inspector general for the Social Security Administration says that the Internal Revenue Service's reluctance to penalize employers who consistently file W-2s on which the Social Security Number and name do not match has "hindered" the SSA’s efforts to stop “unauthorized noncitizens” from using Social Security Numbers that are fake or belong to someone else.

The audit report looked at “inaccurate wage reporting”—or the filing of W-2 forms on which the name and the Social Security Number do not match. The SSA has long said these no-match W-2s are frequently filed on behalf of illegal aliens. According to the IG audit report released earlier this month, a senior IRS official admitted to the IG that the service knows this is the case.

Your source is ALIPAC? Really? You're going to use an ultra-conservative source to support an ultra-conservative source?

The same group who:

Just when you thought the members of the ultra-conservative group Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) couldn’t get any more tasteless, they decide to send used underwear to undocumented immigrants. William Gheen, president of the anti-immigration group ALIPAC, urged members to send their “gently used underwear” to President Obama, John Boehner and undocumented immigrants.

Source

Sounds like a professional and unbiased source to me...

And folks wonder why Trump's deportation rhetoric is so popular.

It takes an Obama (and all the corruption that comes with him) to get a Trump. Heck, if the GOP had had any spine whatsoever, we wouldn't be where we are electorally.

I don't know, I'd have to review the actual CSPAN video of the ENTIRE thing.

What I do know is that it's usually not a good sign that your news story is ONLY being carried by right-wing blogs and fringe news sites who's goal is to push right-wing propaganda.

If I read your source correctly, the logical conclusion would be that we need to regulate corporations and small business to really have an impact on the issue. It all boils-down to the companies that do not use e-verify or properly vet the potential employees before hiring.

Your post hinted at that, before you edited.
