I don't have any problem with Cuba necessarily. But when the leader gives a speech full of anti-American rhetoric and Obama says he personally wouldn't disagree with it, I do have a problem.

Europeans have being growing a anti-American rhetoric and attitude and no thanks to the Spying program, Syria, Libyan intervention post war.

Hey I'm with you on those. I understand the importance of gaining intelligence on enemies, but not our allies.

The NSA is an important agency for our country and they gain a lot of intelligence that helps protect us, but again they should not be spying on ally countries or its own citizens!

All the European countries trade with it. So far as I know, the Asian countries do, and I doubt anyone is stopping Mexico from trading with it.

So why does the place suck so bad? What exactly is it that we make in the US that is preventing it from flourishing? Last I heard, everyone on this site spends so much time whining about how all those other places manufacture so much more than the US does. So since we don't make anything here, how is our embargo hurting Cuba? Instead, it seems like they have the same disease that Venezuela does, and we don't embargo Venezuela.

Maybe, Castro doesn't want the embargo lifted because if it does lift, then he has no easy devil to blame for the all the woes his people suffer.

Technically it is just a US embargo but, the US uses its influence to keep others from trading or investing in Cuba. And if you have to chose between doing business with the worlds largest economy or a small Caribbean state with no resources you can guess what people chose. Of course Cuba was poor when it was run by US backed governments as are most Caribbean states who have no industry beyond tourism. And if your wondering what it was like in Venezuela before the socialists? Pretty much the same, just the poor were even poorer.
