Significant DDoS attack

Okay, not that I understood a single word you said but I'm guessing that the provider's attacks don't show on the list? Anyhow, I tried to edit my post to add that the new look is amazing, thanks so much for your care for this site, it's a go to site for me,

Can anyone tell me what a DDos attack is? It's really making my Friday night a bummer.

DDoS = Distributed Denial of Service

It's an attack where hundreds, or even thousands of computers, are directed to simultaneously flood a website with overwhelming traffic such that it either shuts down because the server becomes overloaded, or available bandwidth into the server is filled-up, thus, shutting down access.

There are many different protocols other than HTTP (web pages) on which an attack can take place.

We've seen a combination of two different methods in this particular attack.

So, is it just bunch of punks messing with websites? Can't seem to find a good reason folks would do something so annoying.

I may have gotten my IP black listed due to trying to load the page too often. I was bored and kept trying while watching a video. I may have tried too hard. Oops!

If I use a proxy or my phone it loads fine. Regular connection on wifi, no go.

Will it reset or do I need to do something?

Is it just a coincidence that this coincides with the Soros sponsored protests in Chicago?

It actually makes matters worse, as each attempt to refresh is a new content request to hit the server.

Are you sure the DDoS wasn't just every ATS member hitting the refresh button at the same time?

I realized too late. I was mindlessly clicking and talking to my kid about homework. Sorry man.

It's such a dumb thing to do, knockout people's ability to exercise free speech because they don't agree with you.

Is anyone else noticing that autoplay video/audio ads are now happening today since this ddos attack ?

I've had them autoplay on just about every single page I've opened up so far... never had that before. I'm just wondering if it's because of the ddos thing ?

It's so bad that I've had to turn on my ad blocker in the hopes that it will get fixed at some point ? I can't surf ATS with these audio/video ads suddenly playing... it means I can't watch a posted video or listen to music while I surf on here today.

Please tell me this is just a temporary problem.

Yes.

I've tracked down the provider and have taken steps to prevent them. It may take some time (hours), but it should go away.

I was having the same issue(s), though I'm using a Firefox offshoot called "Pale Moon".

More attacks more managed DNS providers... Firefighter arsonists.

Hi ya not sure if the problems been fixed or not. I'm not sure of our time deference but I'm having problems on my iPad. Never used ad blocker or will. Sorry your probably sick of the it's not working posts. Thanks heaps for the awesome site.
