Holidays are beneficial to corporations, yes. but I enjoy holidays and am a softie. Love chocolates and heart shaped things and lovely sentiments. Though both my parents are now deceased, I have some of their Valentine cards to each other. They were able to share them into their eighties. They had a love like no other. It was beautiful and an inspiration to all. Mom just passed in October and was without my Dad for eight long years. Now they are together again. Happy Valentine's Day Mom and Dad!

I think we should create a world wide Singles Day, where establishments have singles only dinner and dance events, singles could give cards or something to other singles (maybe with contact details) etc. With lots of moneymaking and socialising to be had, I am surprised it is not already an annual event.

That sounds like a conspiracy to convert all the single people into couples!!!

Hmmmm

You're a Valentine shill arent' you?? You work for Hallmark.... admit it!!

For those alone on valentines day, just remember its just another day. A day humans created, an idea a concept.
You are human right? then make up your own day that fits around you.. and enjoy every second of it

Thanks for stopping in! Enjoy your day!

That is actually a cool idea! I'm surprised it's not an annual event as well.

I won't be alone. I'm going to introduce a bottle of Black Velvet to a bottle of Mountain Dew and we'll all party together.

LOL! Good idea!

Seems kinda redundant with the amount of dating sites, speed dating events and singles parties already around.

Furthermore, Valentines Day isn't specifically aimed at people in relationships, I think it is also supposed to be a day on which singles can make their romantic feelings known towards other singles.

That's true now that you mention it. LOL I'm still trying to wake up here.

Happy Valentine's Day! Enjoy your music!

I can slip into man/machine mode at the drop of a hat.
Techno may not be very romantic but at least people can dance around a bit.....til a proper DJ turns up.

Subsequence2 "healthy and beautiful"

Headphones back on.

I'd probably be blasting heavy metal. I'll let someone else pick out the music. LOL

What about those alone by choice that don't boo-hoo over commercial crap holidays that mean less than zero?

My first valentines day after having my first gf ended up with me alone at a carnival while my best friend ditched me to smuggle my "gf" out of a mental hospital to elope with her... and I got vomited upon when strolling under a ride... soooo

this holiday can suck it all these decades later!

Outnumbered by rockers eh? Oh well, happy to hand over the headphones.

Don't spill beer on my turntables and the fader on output two crackles a bit up top. Keep it at about 8 and use the EQ.

Nebula9 "free spirit"

Takes off headphones and heads off to UFO forum.
Cheers.

Volume to the highest possible? Hmm, I should really get a turn table, vinyl player, whatever it is that you want to call them. Have a couple metal vinyls, Type O Negative and The Exploited and some random band vinyl that a friend gave for free after a concert in Saint Vitus Bar. The Exploited is punk, but great band.

I'm not sure the beer will be able to stay away from the amazing music
Off to UFOs you say, hmm, least not a political forum. Blood boils over there.

Having looked for events for singles, there isn't really anything round these parts, nor any speed dating. Have checked out a few dating sites but they are all the same and all really rubbish and seem to have a lot of con artists and fake accounts. I agree, Valentines Day is not just for couples, however, as a single, one needs to actually meet other singles in the first place in order to make their romantic feelings known.
