Ted Cruz's campaign has yanked an attack ad against rival Republican contender Marco Rubio after it was revealed that it featured a former softcore porn actress.

Cruz's campaign said in a statement to NBC News on Thursday that it was swapping the commercial with a new one after learning about actress Amy Lindsay's background:

"The actress responded to an open casting call. She passed her audition and got the job. Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the casting company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad. The campaign is taking the ad down and will replace it with a different commercial."

Lindsay has said she's a supporter of Cruz's conservative Christian values. Cruz, meanwhile, is trying to stake his campaign in the upcoming South Carolina primary by winning the evangelical vote.

In the nixed commercial spot, seven supporters of Cruz sit in a therapy session circle and talk about regrets they had when they previously voted for Rubio.

Well, Ted Cruz has been playing some dirty politics during the GOP debate as well as in the Iowa caucus....so I am not surprised to see him use a dirty girl in his ad...irony? You bet!

Now the ad gets yanked...maybe that will be irony for Cruz as well? LOL

Maybe Rubio is laughing at Cruz for a failed ad.

Oh man, reminds me of a kind of not so funny superbowl commercial...and politics can be so darn boring!

Adult film work is nowhere near as dirty or unethical as the type of politicians Cruz and Rubio represent. To be so disillusioned to think an adult film actress could possibly make him look less classy is baffling to me.

I hope an adult film industry actors guild gets public about this as it shows the clear disrespect Cruz holds against working women and women who choose their own sexual self-determination. This guy is disgusting.

The fact that the porn star had the key line:"Maybe you should not just vote for a pretty face next time"...says this was planned to be controversial, pulled, and calculated to go viral.

In his defence, it's prob hard to find an attractive woman who hasn't made a sex tape of some kind. Just saying. I know there is only 7 billion people on this planet. Aprox 3.5 billion are female. But when searching for porn, there is so obviously more than 3 billion girls on all the various porn sites out there. What gives?

Cruz doesn't believe that. He pulled the ad. Wouldn't someone with good Christian values look past that and not pull the ad? Seems rather hypocritical to me. If you ask me this actress could call him out on that. She could actually make some money off it, cough, cough...(Trump).
