You kind of touch on something that is a real pet peeve for me: the idea that if we can measure and graph something we can control it. We have a lot
of monitors in place that give us all kinds of information, often in real time, but fall short of indicating how to resolve the issues. The old rule
of thumb that if you ask an accurate enough question the answer becomes obvious doesn't work well in this complicated age we live in. So many
variations of cascading failures that could start a major event make it impossible to create a contingency plan that involves much more than basic
survival. Its going to be interesting...
