Unfortunate slip?? (Hopefully this is not a premonition)

I have to share (what I hope to be) a funny story... This past week I was sharing some good news with a group of colleagues. I was telling them that I have been chosen to be part of a special project with the FBI that will take place over a period of 8-10 weeks this spring. My friend, in an effort to congratulate me over the honor, pipes up "So does this mean they'll be sending you off to Guantanamo?"



Everyone broke out into hysterical laughter as someone else said "Did you mean Quantico?" My friend was pretty flushed with embarrassment and said "yeah, let's hope...."

Soooo.....just in case I end up mysteriously missing sometime around late Spring.....

For some reason that reminds me of the time I and two other officers had to transport a subject to a psychiatric facility. The two others decided it would be funny to tell the staff of the facility that I was the subject to be committed. They thought it was very funny. I on the other hand, did not.

This brings in an entire other level of psychological dehumanization, actually. It is one thing to take away a man's freedom.... It is another thing entirely to threaten to take away his mind.

Hey...I've been through that airport 4 times in the past 2 months. I'm quite miffed that I wasn't invited "down under..." I mean, I'm not a mason (don't have the right equipment...) but I'm the wife of a Mason (and in Eastern Star...for whatever that's worth). That's almost the same, right???
