In my brief time here I've seen threads posted about members, relatives, celebrities, fellow veterans who have passed on.

How hard would it be to create a thread that is locked, but can have a nice piece written about a member or someone who has passed on. This thread could be virtually visited by anyone at any time if they wanted to remember or share positive thoughts or vibes or prayers or whatever.

Just like a memorial wall that places have.

Thoughts?

How would one post thoughts and prayers on a locked thread?

You don't need to post them, but a locked thread would also keep people from posting anything disrespectful.

I am not sure why this would be done. In the case of celebrities, members like to share why the celebrity, person of note, well known person- was special to them. In the case of personal posts about loved ones and pets, it gives members the chance to offer their condolences and sometimes advice on dealing with grief. It would be a great loss if these posts were locked.

It was just a thought. If you don't like it, then I guess that's fine also.

I would find a members only memorial page thoughtful and respectful. We've lost many great people here over the years.

a reply to: DBCowboyNot in the form of a forum. But more in the form of a poster, 3 wide. Each box the same width but differing lengths down the page, with a entry line added to each.. Each entry would have to be accepted by admin and allowed.

It would be a very nice thought.

Perhaps a good riddance thread for the rest of us...

Ok it's just when you said share positive thoughts etc I thought you meant in the form of a post.

I don't see why not anyways.
It's a good idea.

I don't want it to be a "wish list" (ha)

But something respectful.

I sort of like that idea. But I am not sure mods want the job of the 2nd part. If it was a page just separate from forums and ATS is willing to create a page with that format, one where fallen members names were in each square, I like that.

I'm not sure how it could be done and I'm not speaking on behalf of ATS here.

It's a great idea imo. I love it.

I'll have a beer and sometimes go check the profiles of passed members like JKRog, Aquarius1 and RisingAgainst to read the posts. They're missed and occasionally mourned and that's how it should be.

A memorial wall thread sounds great.

An ATS Commemorative/Memorial Wall

It could be done.

First, there could be the memorial text... officially approved, of course.

From there? Visitors merely need to sign off by name. If they want to add a sentence or two, that could be easily overseen and approved. No massive comments... just a few thoughts.

Not a bad idea...

So many times people have 'new ideas' and suggestions for ATS, and I typically poo-poo them.

Not this one. I love this one.

Good idea

As some members do not log on for a while due to a hecktic life style and it would be easy to catch up

Maybe make a page and place their profile box, as on the forum pages, on it.

I really like the idea.
Maybe members can leave anonymous stars...but not comment.
