Heads up UK TV watchers. Tonight at 8:00pm Channel 4

Bear goes wild with Barack Obama

Bear Grylls is joined by the US president for his latest adventure, in which the two of them go on a trek across the Alaskan wilderness and observe the effects of climate change.

Should be a good watch. I wonder how many body guards are behind the cameras though.

It will take a lot of wild animal photo ops for Obama to catch up with Putin.

Be great to see his security trying to hide behind the rocks as grilles gives the old "out here alone" spiel - I can picture it....

Why is the American political figurehead acting like a celebrity? Is this the new thing? This man has ordered the killings of countless people but we're to watch him surviving on to as though he's some normal Joe shmo. No wonder things are such a mess.
Look for the end credits where you get to see a shark be 'taken out the picture' for inciting terror in the ocean. Or a fish be assassinated for "flapping suspiciously near the potus" this is trash tv I will not be watching.

We need to make a TV show Bear V Ray...to the death!!.
Drop them both on a terrible island full of monsters and bugs and last one alive wins.

Having watched mears for a long time I think this would be a very close call.

Bear will eat on the move and use more energy but ray plans ahead more.
That would be interesting though.

Great.

Maybe when he's done taking care of the greatest threat to our national security he could devote some effort to lesser problems.

Just finished watching it..(thank goodness for free/borrowed wi-fi.

The president only spent a day there and as uyou can imagine sucurity was very tight.

He did actually give me a couple of smiles and I know very little of usa policy.
There is one thing that struck me as slightly odd.

Bear cooks whats left of a half eaten salmon while his cook advisor is watching.
This chunk that the bear had eaten was in grylls words "the bear has eaten all the nutricious parts head and gut etc".

Obviously im not buying this part.
But other than that it was good and a gentle introduction of bama
to us brits.

But bloody climate change......he had to get it in.

Bear is former SAS that lost his status as operational due to him breaking his leg or something like that on a jump exercise. From what I know of him he's about as tough and cunning as they come and he is pretty much the real deal if u get away from all the tv stuff. From what I understand about him, he does survivalist stuff out of passion and has before in the past been an instructer trainer in not only sere but jwst "jdub"

It was like one long commercial or public information film regarding climate change, with none of the usual Bear stuff....like rappelling down cliffs etc. I like Obama, but wth was all that " may I pray with you Mr President " ??

Never before seen, Bear Gryllis going all holy Joe ?? Bizarro !

Yeah I was thinking that. It was a very strange thing to have happen.

Why pray for him? It would have been utterly brilliant television had Obama's eyes turned red and then he warps up to his ship.

Again, I ended up stuck in the gf's mothers house watching it, it was awful. Awkward and cringe worthy, with the obligatory nod to climate science.

It was soooo boring and they did nothing 'wild' at all.
The Ben Stiller and Michelle Rodriguez episodes were excellent and they actually did stuff and it felt real-ish.
This was basically just a boring interview and walk by the river, and Obama came across as stiff and boring.

Poor show all around.
