Ah, yes!

The Niyamas. The ancient Vedic teachings of the Niyamas!

Santosa.

The practice of being happy for no reason.

Oh the possibilities it opens!

As we ponder out the looking glass!

Oh my! What things!

How amazing this cell phone is!

The goodness in the world is perfect.

Oh!

What're you fine folks grateful for?

The paint on my wall has so many specs! How beautiful!

See the greatness in all things. My Friends.

And the death of a child?

The suffering of the afflicted?

The poisoning of our lands and water?

The splendor of doing the dishes day in and day out!

How the mold in the shower just beckons me with complete joy!

The laundry that never seems to get done just melts the stress away!

The constant bills that need paid make me jump for joy!

Oh heavy logs of wood that I carry up and down stairs truly do warm the winter nights.

You precious spiders that creep near my bed at night, here let me gently capture you to be put outdoors.

Hey there rascally raccoon let me pick up this splendid trash you've strewn about.

Yes, so many things to find joy and laughter in.

Buddha told a parable in sutra:

A man traveling across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself down over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him.

Two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. The man saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted!

I'm thankful for my daily bread (meals) and a roof over my head.

I'm thankful for all of the Love people show, every starving stomach fed and every tearful face turned to laughter.

Miracles happen everyday, and the power of Love and Joy causes the miracles.

A gratitude journal is great for getting out of negative patterns of thought to more happy ones.

God bless you my friend. May your positivity and gratitude bring happiness to these other people.

wow if this is your reasoning than you must be one sad man. Cheer up!
I think you should not be influenced by the things which are outside your control. But if you can do something, than do it. Only thinking about it and getting sad is doing no one a favour, least of all, yourself and people around you!
---
As far as OP I am grateful for many many things. I cannot express all the gratitude I feel inside. I had tough moments and had many good ones to. But I am grateful for ALL. If just one moment in the past would be different than all other moments since then could play out differently and I maybe would not be me as I am today.
Grateful for the body, for the parents, friends, relatives, animals, even the people I don't know. for Instance I have my clothes made by strangers, food, car made in other country, my room was made from wood - nature is great - thanks nature for providing me and all others with all your wanders!
Phone, computer, electricity,...
Even member of ATS, you have given me many different thoughts and subject to learn from and ponder about!

I am grateful to all! This unity which we all are a part of is just amazing and it is sad that people are not seeing it, how interdependent we all are and UNgrateful for that!

Positivity

First, a translation;
'Positivity'; anything that makes me 'comfortable'!
'Negativity'; anything that makes me 'uncomfortable'!
That seems to be how the terms are mostly used by people.
To attempt to attract and attach to one, while attempting to avoid the other is an E-ticket to vain suffering!
There can be no one without the other! They define each other!
Heads and Tails define One Coin!
Denying any side and the Coin disappears.

The practice of being happy for no reason.

That sounds like the cruelty of suggesting that Happiness is a 'choice'?
The "practice of being happy" means what?
It is anything that a Happy person does.
There is no 'practice', that is schizophrenia!
Dog! If I hear someone whining about 'positivity' or 'negativity' one more time.... AAAGGGGGHHHH!!! *__-
What is, IS!
One need not vainly judge everything!
And if you do, one need not believe all those nasty thoughts and feelings!

'Happiness' is an 'unconditional' Virtue of unconditional Love!

True, unconditional Love is ALWAYS recognized by It's unconditional Virtues; Compassion, Empathy, Sympathy, Gratitude, Humility, Charity (charity is never taking more than your share of anything, ever!), Honesty, Happiness, Faith...
ALWAYS!

I absolutely love this. I have been trying to live like this for a while, it is definitely seen as weird from a third perspective. But it makes life so much more fun
