Anime Nerds Are Trying to Google Bomb ISIS

Color me impressed.

Her name is ISIS-chan. And she's how nerds around the world are trying to silence violent ISIS terrorist propaganda.

It starts with the vibrant worldwide community that loves Japanese anime. Some of them have created a cute animated character as a sort of ISIS mascot.

The goal? Hijack the terrorist group's message and replace it with a girl that's oh-so-adorable.

Right now, if you search online for the term "ISIS," you'll be pelted with images of intimidating thugs murdering innocent people and waving AK-47s and black flags.

Anti-ISIS activists want to reverse that, so that when you search for "ISIS," you get this cute girl instead. To achieve that, activists have put out an open call to everyone around the world who can doodle.

Feeling a little extreme today? Thinking about defecting to ISIS? How does one do that exactly? Just google it. Then this comes up...

Doesn't matter if you can draw, the more images added the more it comes up when ISIS is googled.

Their proper name is actually Islamic State (IS). It will not necessarily make a difference using that search.

Also, it is very silly because it will give IS net anonymity. It will cause a blackout of information for those of us who research the subject. It will take away all the availability of images of the carnage they have caused and give them a clean slate.

A ridiculously stupid idea and achieving the very opposite, helping IS in a multitude of ways. Sorry, but that is the truth of it. It is just childish spamming and blocking of Google searches. Thanks for bringing it to attention, S&F for that, but it is a really bad idea.

I'm not sure how this how this does anything.
Now when stupid people search ISIS they get a pic of some anime? If anything they will think it is truly ISIS inspired or propagated and imagine that this is what awaits if they join them, or that life as a female in ISIS looks like this.

Having some big eyed anime girl is a deterrent? I don't get it.

I would suggest if they REALLY want to make
the Islamic State boil
have the cute girl hold a cute pig or kiss a cute piglet.

Actually they don't want any anti-Islamic images. The idea is to humiliate ISIS, not Islam.

I get what you are saying, but I dont see how associating The Islamic state with cartoon images of Islamic women with cartoon bombs is any humiliation to them.

It looks like a Pokemon is going to help her fight the infidels, I don't think they could have come up with better propaganda themselves.

Haha, I love it, but I'd much rather see art making fun of ISIS flood the internet.

Well, it's a female character who uses her knife to cut up melons... and if it did manage to take over the search, well that cuts out a lot of ISIS propaganda right there. It's not a perfect solution but a tool, a nonviolent one at that.

Humiliate ISIS by associating them with pigs and dogs,
cute and darling pigs and dogs.

That is not the same as humiliating Islam, it is a statement
that ISIS is a bunch of pigs and dogs, which they are of course.
That would be quite clear if the cute girl is clearly identified
as an Islamic State supporter.
