A "wait and see" attitude is probably the best we can hope for. I worry about my Parents in New Mexico, of course. They living within earshot of Cannon AFB.

It certainly is a problem, especially if some paranoid wacko wants to take potshots at a passing humvee. The fact we're so balled up as a nation is disturbing in itself. Then again, conspiracy buffs don't speak for the majority of Americans either. Most people probably have no idea this training is being carried out and probably never will. The State guard being rolled out was a bit excessive, but Texas has always been the separatist type.

I've really never been afraid of the Army being used against citizens, because I highly doubt that most US Soldiers would agree to open fire on US soil, towards US Citizens.

You'd end up with a lot of commanders shot in the back if you ask me. Sure, some would most certainly follow orders, but at the end of the day, there would be far more of us then them.

And even if that happened, and let's say 50% of the military resigned, they would end up fighting against their own. It's just not a very likely scenario IMO.

This is my thought exactly. Personally I think JH is simply a training exercise.

But the ATS in me will add this.

The only thought I had was the military might be going after targeted individuals, something that doesn't concern me.

All I know is that after this exercise is complete, lots of people are going to look like complete morons....and hopefully feel like one as well.

I certainly hope a lot of people look like complete morons.

I sure don't want any of them to be RIGHT. That would be bad news.

They won't feel like morons. They will pretend they did not participate in the doom . But you did not mention the greatest tactics doom porn people use .

They simply move the goalpost and carry-on with the same ridiculousness in their next doom projections .

We need a Jade helm watch party type thread.

Make it easier to keep track of all the martial law sightings.

I think Special Ops are gathering information from the local communities. They are either looking for something in particular or they are trying to hone their skills interfacing with local people.

I have already had two unusual approaches by "friendly" strangers asking personal questions. I can't tell you the last time THAT happened, and now within the span of a few days it has happened twice. I believe some of the groundwork started about a month ago.

No worries, these guys are already on the case... Counter Jade Helm exercise. Some more information here. It's being labeled as a 'counter insurgency exercise' for citizens. Following around troops in an active scenario, let alone reporting their locations via third party means seems like a one way ticket to somewhere... unsavory.

Recently acquired drone footage tells all.
Film at eleven.

Seriously though....it's just usual par for the course.
Nothing really to worry about.

Oh god. I can already see where that's going. Some idiot "citizen journalist" is going to pry his way into the exercise, get rightly detained, and people will jump ALL over it as some sign that martial law is coming.

They had a Facebook page that was very active as well. However, it was taken down a couple of days ago. It's not even searchable on fb anymore, yesterday it was still searchable.

Thus self-deception turns into self-fulfilling prophecy, a persistent problem with the paranoid. They are (hopefully not literally) jumping the gun on this without thinking. I'll laud them on their cause, but I'm certainly glad I'm not the one out there being irrational; just hope they don't cause too much trouble for the rest of us.

With all that damn drug smuggling and illegal immigrant smuggling in the Southwest, you'd think they'd be gathering intel on that, if possible, but that's not why they're there.

They are literally practicing warfare techniques as they'd play out on home soil, in these types of places.

Even if its all just holographic bad guys, they're training on that terrain specifically.

Once you consider that training on particular terrain is imperative to being ready for potential conflicts in such terrains, it all becomes obvious.

I'm just wondering who the holographic bad guys are and what they look like

They could be Russians, Mexican Cartel, ISIS-inspired militants, armed Black militants, White patriot separatists, neo-Confederate terrorists, or even .. regular armed citizens.

But considering all of the rioting recently with Ferguson, MO, then Baltimore, MD, this imaginary enemy insurgent group is definitely American in nature, secessionists even. I see why Texas is tripping, they are paranoid because they have a unique separate history, and were added to the country of USA only after originally being their own 'country', or self-governed entity, at least.

It's probably a what-if scenario if a bunch of Americans actually got together and said to hell with the Feds, we're doing our own thing, and we're going to do it militarily in an insurgency, and with outside help from rogue nations and groups if possible.

Personally I think this is grooming the public to get used to seeing armed forces used in a domestic capacity. Urban asymmetric warfare is the battle ground of today, I'm definitely of the belief that they are trying to prepare people for the proverbial lockdown that may or may not ever happen (insert for x reason here).

Whether thats for a future "terrorist" situation, an actual doomsday event, or just preparedness is anyones guess at this point.

That's actually a very good observation! And I think we will start seeing US armed forces in more public venues like airports, ports, sports stadiums, around conference centers and the like. I've come away with the impression that in New York for example, their National Guard seems to be a permanent feature at such locations. And, its quite possible that all we need is one more terrorist attack and one more Ferguson and Congress will eliminate Posse Comitatis.

I think they're trying to prepare themselves for how to go about doing it, not the people.

The same thing that happens every time they have a military training exercise in the states. I can bet ONE thing will be true once this whole stupid fiasco is over. The military probably won't EVER tell the media again when they are conducting a training stateside. And I wouldn't blame them.

I can totally see this happening as well. And we will be discussing it here on ATS while a bunch of people yell and scream about how their fears have been justified.
