What can be said except.... expected. I like the "shakedown" ultimatum given to the airport parking garages.... Share your revenue with us or we will not allow you to pick up and drop off people at the airport.

Yes, prime example of Liberalism at it's finest.

Chicagoans who pay to stream movies and music from services like Netflix and Spotify will now need to fork over an additional 9 percent for the privilege, as will Chicago businesses that pay to use everything from real estate to court databases online, under a decision the city quietly made recently to expand its taxing power.

The personal property lease transaction tax expansion also applies to professional services, like electronic property databases real estate agents use, court case databases lawyers rely on and various financial information networks.

Anything that requires a user to do a search or make a request is subject to the tax. "There is nothing you can access that's not taxable," he said.

Emanuel has turned repeatedly to increasing smaller taxes and fees to help fill the city's coffers.

Last month he introduced a plan to require off-site parking companies at Chicago's airports to share their revenue with the city in exchange for pickup privileges at O'Hare and Midway airports.

The mayor also has tried targeted fee increases on parking at downtown garages, cable TV taxes and telephone line 911 costs, among others.

This it where it comes when living on other people's money. Cannot get enough of it, and have to create ludicrous ways to get more. There is no end for government hunger for your money.

Start talking about reducing big government, actually getting pragmatic and cutting the budgets - then this parasitic emblem of socialistic daydreaming starts to shoot out all sorts of news and propaganda on how bad and vicious is the world we live in, and how helpless a person can be, and how kind and helpful the big government is.

Chicago was chic long ago.

Seems like a happiness tax. Maybe redundant. But a lot of college students have Netflix as a mainstay for entertainment since they don't obviously bring in a lot. If they save whatever money, they don't pay taxes, and a majority of their entertainment, between Netflix/Spotify ect. amounts to 20-30 dollars a month that isn't taxed basically. And any other money not spent towards those things for entertainment, would be a heck of a lot more and all taxable.

Hopefully it doesn't spread...not a good idea.
