It is not so much the warmer temps . It is a combo of warmer temps and the (supposedly) higher CO2 levels.(it is CO2 and not Co2 which would be an impossible isotope of Cobalt)

But plants breath CO2.
That is what they need to live.

History says otherwise.

The facts suggest that much more abundant precipitation as indicated by larger more powerful rivers is characteristic of global warming. If anything, global warming is good news for farmers who depend for their livelihood on rainfall. The geological evidence shows that desertification cannot be produced by global warming.

Won't the extra water wash any seeds away and they won't have any time to plant themselves?

And plants are not just co2 to oxygen factories that can churn out all the abundance.
There needs to be a balance.

What happens to you when you eat to much?

Also have we love to cut down all the trees and build over where all the plants want to grow.

More like moved. Ever try planting a really old seed of any kind and notice it will still grow? Those lil' seeds are resilient suckers.

plankton covers most of the oxygen on earth, more water = more plankton.

"On average, then, this mature forest has no net flux of carbon dioxide or oxygen to or from the atmosphere, unless we cut it all down for logging," Sarmiento said. "The ocean works the same way. Most of the photosynthesis is counterbalanced by an equal and opposite amount of respiration."

And the ocean does it's job, and the forest do theirs.
Both relay on a balance, by taking in the same amount they let out.
Not by adding more and more for either.

were not even coming close to the minoan or roman warming perios and they both happened relatively recently. both after the younger dryas.

Well of course, but if there becomes more ocean, there becomes more plankton. They work in balance but not on equal proportions. One makes up a LOT more than the other.

Wouldn't the fact that there is more moisture in the atmosphere and in lakes rivers streams and in the new flourishing plantlike kind of balance out how much water is in the ocean?

From the article.

Greater levels of CO2 made no difference one way or the other. At higher temperatures plants open their pores, called stomata, to capture the elevated CO2, which boosts photosynthesis, greening the leaves. But plants also tend to close their stomata in warmer temperatures to prevent water loss. Mora says that on balance the two effects cancel out.

As usual people rag on well considered technical scientific results that think through all the problems and don't make simplistic assumptions which are unjustified.

The real issue with climate change; isn't the heat, plants, etc... the planet does not need us and can be as unstable as it wants to be, life and animals will adapt to the adversity as they have with every major Earth change.

We however, don't want to figure out what to do with displaced Floridians and anyone else in the world on the coasts to be affected... that will eventually all be under water.

So It's more a matter of the collapse of our precarious little civilization's economics... when sea levels start displacing large amounts of people to places... from ones they cannot return to without scuba gear, is what they are really concerned about. It has nothing to do with saving the planet for the planets sake, I hate to say... but, it's a political issue simply on the economics of sea levels alone.

The federal and state government keeps asking the islanders on my mom's side of the family, to move and let the bay take their island... several islands have already disappeared into the bay, one other island population has all but left for the main land as theirs is already near complete in being under water. These things are just not being reported or discussed in the mainstream... because selling carbon projected emission loads to another country, doesn't and isn't going to prevent any of it from happening.

One of the ironic things? China is wasting tons of money and resources, trying to build an island in the middle of all of this sea level rising business... despite everyone telling them to stop, thought all that asking them to stop was just about a territorial feud? China good luck with that damn thing lasting... some of the Dubai made islands are already washing away and under water.

In a warmer global temperature scenario? No.

Florida is already going under.

They built cities on marshland.

Sea level rising is probably another lie they probably aren't aware of in China yet.

They will laugh at us like flat earthers when they find out.

Everything I've studied in this aspect points to warmer temperatures leading to higher CO2 levels and higher O2 levels. Which is why everything was so big in the past. Elevated rates of the two provides the nourishment for flora and fauna alike to thrive. Earth life tends to like to be warmer than our current setting, no doubt we would adjust for it.

Well we as a species we may or may not adjust, one thing is for sure plants will be just fine,in fact will do much much better without us stupid people trying to interfere ....

how is this new news? I already read in 2010 that Plant growth was already on the decline after an increase in the previous decades. Thats because regional droughts overwhelmed the potential positive influence of increasing temperature and CO², and longer growing seasons.

Well i like to refer to sublimecraft's words on this

Flora are natural to this planet needing only the sustenance the planet and sun provides.
Fauna appears to cope very well with the planets environment and has evolved and adapted to the planets changes with time.
There is only one species that appears out of place, for instance, with it's natural "skin" this species gets sunburnt easily and can die with minutes in cold environments. So, to adapt, it has done what no other species needs to do - it has created artificial environments on this planet to survive - a fundamental requirement of this is the destruction of the planets natural flora and fauna.
This species I talk of, in my opinion, is not native to this planet but has been introduced to it and is therefore the aliens we are searching for. Maybe we are looking at this whole scenario incorrectly.
Can you guess the species I speak of?, they are destructive yet ironically amazingly loving and do not have the capability to yet find who or what actually placed them on the planet because their philosophers and scientists think each other are wrong when both are correct

I think we will do better when we find our real home, this one works, but really isn't for us pesky humans

I guess the scientist are actually ignoring the historical facts of earth warming and cooling trends that span for millions of years because they recognize that most humans can only phantom earth life in their human years.

But sorry back pocket scientist, warming trends historically shows live thriving.

Does anybody notice that since the spring and summer started the global warming pushers are all over the media? I just seen the weather channel bringing 12 of the biggest global warmer pushers (from US justice department to big pockets CEO,) to show why global warming is affecting the economy and their profits

Now every time is dry is global warming and every time it rains is global warming too, so the weather is now a danger to their profits.

Weather change has always been part of the earth natural cycles, why now is soo important? because profiteers wants to make weather in earth a profitable business.

While there are some plants in seed catalogs that may be heat intolerant, the zones have more to do with lowest normal temperatures than highest. General warming would mean more plants can thrive in locations where they would otherwise freeze and die off.
