Anything religious hasn't been relevant for over 100 years. Religion is now a reactionary force, where it used to be a creative one. It cannot adapt
its teaching to modern times, where it might offer insights into issues such as cloning, stem cell research, technology, the environment, etc. It can
only react to what
is created by those who are relevant, and react badly in most cases.
Remember the Taiping Rebellion? Neither do I. Yet it was the largest civil war of the 19th century, eclipsing the American civil war. The rebels were
led by a charismatic Christian, who had an assistant who spoke to God, thus impelling the masses to mobilize under Christian authority.
The point is, no one remembers the rebels of the Taiping rebellion. No one remembers the charismatic leader. No one will remember Al Queda. No one
will remember ISIS. These are reactionary farts in the wind being crushed under modernity and any outburst is a last ditch effort. They are not
creative forces, they are irrelevant to modern issues, and they will not change the world in any meaningful way.
In other words, who cares?
