Dead Can Dance have so many songs that fit this post...

I think most people familiar with their works would list this song as having a very spiritual feel to it. From the name of the song , to the vocal work of Lisa Gerrard to just the general atmosphere. It's been used in multiple movies and in multiple clips when some sort of viscerally emotional response was required.

It was used during the crushing last scenes of the movie version of The Mist ..Though the version used in the movie is modified from the original...

This version is taking from the amazing and heart wrenching documentary Baraka ( en.wikipedia.org... )

This is a live version from their last tour a few years ago. While the visual primarily focuses on Lisa Gerrard you can also hear the wonderful voice of Brendan Perry in the background and get to see him towards the end...

Swallow me whole
Make me learn
Don't need me
Crush my soul, make me feel

How can I
See hope
When I never
See my light, I'm empty inside

The lonely shepherd

Surface of the Sun

The last man, First snow, Stay with me, Finish it, Together we will live forever, Death is the road to awe, Xibalba by Clint Mansell from the Fountain soundtrack.

Pretty much the whole soundtrack is amazing.

These are some sounds that help me grieve when grief kicks in, help me see past the grief and into a new tomorrow.

Others which are too many to list are by Michael Giacchino and his composing of numerous tracks from the TV series Lost.

The life and death variations, Moving On, The Constant, are just to name a few.

Aum Trayambakam Yajamahe
Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam
Urva Rukamiva Bandhanaan
Mrityor Mokshiye Maamritat

Traveler now reach the stream. The astral flight adapter.
From the pain-sheath life ascends - the Non-returner sees.
Empathy release me - and the phoenix rise triumphant.
And walks onto the certitude ground - the soul's submergence ends.

From the rounds of rebirth - he arrives onto the deathless.
Light bores through the adjunct worlds - the soul-galleon prevails.
Liberates in wisdom to complete state of negation.
The five roads subsumed by grace - emancipates from dream.

---

Trumpeter sounds a periphic dream the cries now shorn as prelate falls and send away.
Overture mits' forth clarion sky to sun she climbs and sheds her wings into the sea.
Memories rise to obscurate orb - the astral causate forms dissolve and send away.
Severance from illusory field the pilgrim wills to correspond with freedom.

Who can give salvation?
Who can take the fire
To show which way to go instead of the way of lie?
I believe I've been taught but solution always hides
Who will open up the book where the wisdom lies?
Where all the wisdoms lie...
What I've been looking for...
When these psycho days are over
Have I got to feel that I go nowhere?
When these worn out days are thrown onto fire
Who will know who is, who was, who will be a liar?
Who can open the gates wide
Overlook the All
Who can find all the keys to open every door
Can any man stay so clean to speak words carrying weight
Can any man be a verified witness of today?
A witness of today...
Who I've been looking for...

---

With bound hands and feet sent to the stake
Hell is to inhale, Fate's hands are to take
Centuries' clouds bring storms and pain
Nation of condemned washed by blood-rain
Branded by hot iron of the Only One
Temples' veins beat felt the barrel of the gun
Wait for the hangman paralysed by fear
The harsh judgement passed by the King of the Hill
It's the destiny of a nation, the legions of the pale faced stare through their eyes
The book of our fate is written with disgusting types
The years of mist swept away by millions of orphans' cries
Exiled or slaughtered , and buried 1000 times
