Do you have a good relationship with your ex/childrens parent?

I don't see the ex often, being in different states, and the "child" in that case is grown, but we get along well enough. It's possible. I could see issues if the ex was abusive, or utterly irresponsible, or the like, but suspect most time exes fight, it's about themselves, and not the kids at all. Kudos for making the effort!

My son's mother and I get along great, better then we did when we were a couple. We back each other up when it comes to him. She's since remarried, and her husband and I get along good. As a matter of fact, he will CALL me to inform me he's punishing Zack for whatever reason.
When we first split up, we had our arguments and such, but these gotten ironed out over the years.
