Thanksgiving, seriously..
Having dinner with Indians who would later be killed off, and people celebrate that.
I know people have been following these stupid holidays for years but it's becoming annoying, and when you step back an look at all the holidays, they really are pathetic and need to be done away with, they will eventually be done away with...

Who doesn't love all of that? That's like the trifecta of utopian dreams come true. Please try to remember Tiny Tim needs his father to have a job and Obamacare. Pre existing conditions and all that. Don't fire him and stop not giving him the raise he deserves. I have a feeling something will change your mind about that anyway.

I don't like the over commercialization of the holidays myself. But I do love that it brings a lot of us closer together, families come together, children are there, etc. Its all in what you choose to make it. Enjoy the time with your family and friends.

Ye i hate Christmas too but its good for the kids the only thing I really dont like is the over consumerism! Oh and the weather it should be sunny all year round! But i do like to paaaartaaay! Woop woop! Ooohh wait and the Christmas dinner hhmmmm pigs in blankets oooohh yeeeeeaaaa!,!!

Just because it's mainstream, it doesn't mean you have to participate. It is entirely possible to opt out and tons of folks do indeed opt out.

It's not impossible to just not partake in the festivities.

Seriously though, why be a scrooge? If you would rather wallow in your misery during the holidays, why try and bring everyone else down too? Way I see it: Eat, drink, maybe party a little and give some gifts, what could be bad about that?

I have children that still believe in Santa Claus....
And I am okay with that.

I am not a fan of the holidays either, but I will say, I think it tends to be a little more about family and gatherings for most folks. I would never discourage people from that.

Sad it has become so commercialized. But your gonna just have to put up with it. Right now Walmart ELVES (Part Time) are slaving getting those shelves filled with toys for all the good girls and Boys... Made by starving workers at the North Pole (China)..... So get out there like a good happy person and get that huge Flat screen you always wanted! Please try not to trample anyone either. Don't worry they got lots of them.

Alright Santa, present and clarify your case and BTW, I only left you a couple of Jaffa cakes on the table last year, but the next day day the whole packet was gone..you greedy Pig!

I definitely feel that the reasons behind such festivities has been largely forgotten and kids now aren't always taught about the history behind such things which is disappointing.

We do it for the kids and for family. I despise the commercialism and the way that people behave during Christmas shopping season - as it tends to bring out the worst in a lot of folks. But when it is all said and done it is for the kids.

Finding it intellectually insulting just means that you are not a child any longer. However the statements about how it will be extinct by the time you are a parent shows the naivete' of a youthful mind. When you have kids, unless your religion excludes Christmas and other Holidays - you will likely participate for their sake.

Regarding Thanksgiving. Total pain in the butt, really - but once families disperse and move away, it seems to be the one time a year that they regroup. It's not about the turkey. It's about seeing people you may never see again. That's the ugly truth of it. In a few days I'll be headed for Florida to spend Thanksgiving with my 72 year old mother. I probably won't be seeing her again until the next Thanksgiving - should she still be alive.

Forget commercialism and the rest of the issues. Kids and familiy are the real reason for the season.

I think someone needs a cookie. Could there be some underlying reason the holidays displease you? You really arent alone in that. Its quite normal to feel that way occasionally. If youre always like this around them...perhaps telling us why you are...would help you lift up and out, you know?

The holidays are more that fat men and Indians. Its a time to be thankful for what you have in life...even if it seems just a little..... Happy holidays to you in all seriousness.
