Not a rant about ATS or any current events...Just me.

This is the part that hits me personally. A few years ago I lost over 200K by trying to play the game rather than playing by my own rules. Why? I got married and wanted to make her feel comfortable and safe rather than believe in what I knew was the right way for me.

I bought a 2 acre property with a bakery and 180 per Month in taxes attached. I painted the building, put in a lawn and 6 Months later got a bill for 1300 per Month in taxes because of "improvements". I fought the law and I lost. Forced to sell, I lost everything I put into it. Where are my taxes going to? Death on behalf of those that sit at their asses and push a button or for my small business? I had my own septic and well. No services but a road.

I have no problem paying SOME tax because of course we need to support our infrastructure (those that are actually still Govt. run) and of course social programs that help my fellow citizens. We all need help as we're all in this crap together.

But...I have a problem in not knowing where my taxes go and not having a choice as to what I am paying for. I DO NOT want to pay to kill innocent people across the World. I DO NOT want to pay to overtake Nations for the greed of corporations that lobby and control the butt-wipes in Govt. and their gross salaries and especially because they have investments in the very companies that are killing for profit.
How many taxes are we really paying and why?

Kindest regards,

My name is Nigel Smeed, I represent the Rant Authority for your district. Apparently you did not pre-apply for a Rant Allowance Performance Permit.
Enclosed is a fine that must be paid in full to the Rant Authority Office in your district.

Failure to do so will create work for our office to the point where we would have to raise your taxes in order to man the system that exists in order to tax you.

Have a wonderful day.

Please find in the enclosed form a critique that is not mandatory to fill out, but if you don't say nice things, we will be forced to hire more people to find out what we did wrong and in order for that to happen, we will (of course) have to raise your taxes even more.

Yours,

Nigel Smeed.

So how can a small business run when all I hear every Day is that "We want small business to open and succeed" is on the radio but as soon as we open the big boys swoop in to tell us how much more we need to operate?

Large corps can afford it but we cannot. This is how we get run to the ground. They pay lobbyists to push more regulations which costs them pennies to follow but thousands for the little guy.

Done.

Peace

Jon Stossel did a piece about opening a lemonade stand.

In the US it takes several hundred dollars and tons of paperwork and takes several weeks to process.

In Hong Kong, it took 15 minutes, one piece of paperwork, and a business was allowed that day.

Land of the "Fee".

I actually posted a thread on that very topic.

In Korea I opened a bar serving alcohol and food within 72 hours.

Try that in the land of the free.

Hey, during the previous governor's administration ... you know Sebelius. A property tax assessor came out and supposedly "assessed" the 137-year-old house my parents are living in. At some point, that thing mysteriously grew about 14 rooms! They went through it top to bottom, and even if they counted all the rooms on the third floor which is unlivable attic space (still has original gaslight fixtures in it) and counted every tiny nook of a closet, they still weren't close to the number of rooms the assessor said they had in it for taxing purposes.

"We Can't Fart Without Paying For Permission."

Wouldn't that be considered a gas tax?

Anyway Jude Good post. I find most of these to be unconstitutional and taxation on taxation. I long have been aware of this but not to this extent. Thanks for the heads up. S&F

Obviously, you missed the memo. Citizens own nothing in the USofA. Everything that they let you think you own is actually just leased from the gov't. They call it a tax, but the fact is that it's nothing more than a lease. We live as serfs.

You house and any other property? Trying not paying your regular lease fee and see how long you are allowed to occupy the property they say you own.

Your automobile? Try not paying your annual lease fee and see if they let you use it on the roads. They'd take it away from you if they could figure out a way to make profitable.

Your own earning potential? The gov't owns it, and they lease it back to you for a fee - a percentage of what you charge for the use of your time and talents.

Get over it. You did't own that property. Your mistake was getting duped into thinking that you did.

Seen it before.

Pay off your loan to the bank...

Then pay the taxes on the property.

Miss payments on a fully paid house...Bye-Bye House.

Criminal extortion by the Govt.

I hear ya! My sister has a nice piece of rural property and it would be absolutely beautiful with a tad bit of landscaping and maybe a paved driveway. She got annoyed when I mentioned helping her do so since her husband died.

She became annoyed and told me "HELL NO! or words to that effect. The improvements would raise her taxes to the point that she would lose the house that she and her husband built by hand and the property that is bought and paid for due to not being able to afford them.

It's a racket I tell ya!

Nice tax list by the way, and why do I have a suspicion that many more were missed?

Assigning a baby with birth certificates and ssn (sin Canada) is a premeditated tax.

Owned and I have a feeling we are traded like commodities also. We are all property of the state.

If you made no real capital improvements I don't see how they could do that to you. Grass and paint, I would have taken my car and did donuts on the lawn while hosting a graffiti contest using the building, disgusting.

Off topic, I always though you were a she. I have to change the voice I hear when I read your stuff now, how should I make you sound?
