Ooh la la. How’s this for a badly timed event? An auction of sex toys to make up for nonpayment of taxes by their owner is about to occur in Kansas.

This is not the kind of event the Sam Brownback administration wants publicized as the Republican incumbent engages in a tough re-election campaign against Democrat Paul Davis.

Brownback is the straight-laced, tough-talking governor who won’t like his department officials being linked in any way to this sale.

On Wednesday, giddy Democrats pounced on the announcement.

“Brownback is so desperate to fill the massive hole in the state budget caused by his reckless income tax cuts that the state of Kansas is now in the porn business,” said Senate Democratic Leader Anthony Hensley

I always get a laugh out of when people who claim to be all straight-laced and clean are shown to be as messy as everyone else is.

I really don't care for hypocrisy in all of its forms, and people like that are usually pretty bad about it.

Ah well, it's all entertainment, I guess lol

Are these used sex toys?
Can't imagine that someone would have a stock of unopened ones.

Edit: Nevermind. I see it's a sex toy business.

actually it's the ##DEMOCRATS## who are making fools of themselves. it is common practice for a state to seize assets of a company to pay for back taxes owed whether in goods or property. it's done all over the country, to all kinds businesses with both parties having Governors in office.

in this case the business may not have owned any real property, other than the good they sold. hence the seizure and sale of goods.

this is just a petty ploy of ##DEMOCRATS## trying to smear their opponent.who has nothing to do with the enforcement of a law that both parties voted for.

This is a non-issue. Why do people care so deeply about smut? It's so weird.

lol, this makes it even more funny..

not only are they selling sex-toys in socially-conservative Kansas, they're having to auction them off to make up for back taxes, in spite of the state having made massive tax-cuts.

"Smut" or adult playtime enhancement is a multibillion a year industry. Why wouldn't Kansas want in on a few of those dollars? Blue laws are funny. When I lived in Georgia, you could get beer and wine at the grocery store, but no "adult fun time things"...I move to PA, its the opposite.

I saw this on John Oliver's show, he gave a link to where you could bid on items...
Remember, you're not just helping spice things up with yourself or whomever, you're helping the people of Kansas and America!

I'm talking about the people who care that the state of Kansas is selling smut. Why do they care so much? It's 100% legal to do so.

I agree...it is a non-issue. It's the whole "moral majority" thing...some Kansans get irate because the money for little Johnny's desk at school was paid for by the sale of a phallic shaped piece of silicone. I think it's funny. But I'm not of the "holier than thou" mindset that certain people think they need to portray in public to pander votes from Ned Flanders types.

Non issue yeah right!

As the 46th Governor of Kansas, Sam Brownback has one goal: To make the Sunflower State the best place in America to raise a family and grow a business…

Brownback

And now Kansas is in the porn business.

And the only people making a to-do about this are the liberals who think it's some kind of big deal.

The business was about $165,000 short in taxes, so the assets were seized and sold. It happens to anyone who thinks they are above paying taxes, no matter what their business is.

And adult stores are perfectly legal in Kansas ... right up until they forget to pay their taxes that is.

Clearly the people making a fuss know next to nothing about the state; they only know what the caricature is.

Got it, got it, need it, got it, need it, got it, got it.....

Just working off my collectors list. (not really, I do not collect sex toys, although doesn't sound like a bad idea. And to use this to score political points is just silly, unfair, and, wait ...got it, need it, got it...)
