Well let's think about that for a bit: They would cover it up because they don't want us to know the "truth" (but we don't know what the "truth" is that they are trying to cover up).

First: NASA and all the other space agencies, along with all the other astronomers out there that work in observatories, have told us, the public, over and over: There are millions and millions of objects out there and that it's not a matter of "if" but "when" the Earth will get hit again.

They've said over and over: They have the ability to find and track the larger asteroids, but the smaller ones (under a mile or so), are much harder to find and track, and that they have no idea where they all are, or how many are a threat to Earth.

They have said over and over: It is quite possible for there to be little to no warning at all about a meteor big enough to get through our atmosphere and impact the Earth.

They have also said over and over: This is a very real threat that everyone on Earth should take seriously, and that we need to find ways to protect the Earth.

In fact, in many ways, NASA and all the other space agencies and astronomers in the world put out more doom porn on this than we do here on ATS! Hehehee. Seriously, they do!

A cover up means to deflect people from the truth. If the truth is: The Earth can and will be hit by these objects, possibly causing large amounts of damage, loss of life, or if big enough, even a extinction level event, then they are doing a lousy job at trying to cover that up! They have basically telling us for decades now that this is all possible.

So that doesn't quite make any sense.

Other thing to think about: How many times have they (they being NASA et al) tried to cover up meteor impacts?

As far as I know, this example that you give is the only one, and really, it read more like a single astronomer's opinion rather than a cover up by NASA (or anyone else).

But let us say for argument's sake, that instead of just one guy's opinion, it was really NASA trying to cover it up. Why just this one?

By being the only one, it might be because they think it's not a meteor that crashed but something else! A probe from a UFO? Things like that.

So again: can't really see it being a cover up. What would they be covering up? Their "standard model" of asteroids and meteors hitting the Earth is: There is more stuff out their than we can count, and at any time the Earth could be hit with little to know warning.

That is actually their official stance.

Nope...not as long as logic and intellect are involved. Otherwise its just ignorance.

I think NASA is trying to cover up the fact that my fritos are 8% smaller than they used to be. Therefore, obviously, Planet X is about to hit and so Fritos is saving money by making smaller Fritos and NASA is supporting them by covering up the fact that Planet X is about to strike the Earth.

Why, for God's sake, would NASA cover up a small, insignificant meteorite strike? They happen... they happen randomly. NASA is not responsible for them, cannot prevent them and could care less about a single small one. There is zippo to be gained, there is no monetary value (other than the potential sale of any meteor left) which would interest anyone in NASA.

Don't you think that if meteors were suddenly hitting everywhere at increased rates that it would be something that could not, in fact, be covered up even if there was some doomsday reason?

One event does not make for a trend. There is no correlation.

If we start getting reports from here and there about other meteor strikes, then yeah... let's talk about what that means.

Otherwise it is just tin-foil-hat crap. Why does every fracking thing that happens have to be some conspiracy? That is what is burning my butt (fire "this" high).

The wolf that cried "boy" too many times!

I find it interesting that you would bring up Planet X, yet I did not.

I guess someone is sensitive, now I cannot load the space weather site, I have never had this issue before. I wonder if it has something to do with this thread? Very vindictive......

Yep! It's DOWN for everyone! Been down for 4 1/2 hours now.

Looks like the cause is: News Media, hehehehehehe. All the news outlets linking to the site because of the solar flares and chances for people to see the northern lights.

So you laugh at people who talk about conspiracies, yet here you are one the internet's foremost conspiracy site, what does that say about you? Or do you believe that some things are conspiracies?

Ya, I figured that later when I heard about the two large consecutive flares, the most action we've had from the Sun in a while - and people checking out one of the best and possibly the best site for that kind of info, at least for the layperson. Glad it wasn't what I thought was a possibility. Am I paranoid? No, I just question coincidences, I believe that intelligence agencies operate on the same principle.

I just like to know who I am discussing things with.

So if a person is open or closed to a conspiracy theory you somehow know who you are talking too?

So specifically in the case, what is the truth? I'm not sure.....but I'll repost some of what I wrote above:

Any meteorite strike is significant. I don't know why they would attempt to cover it up, that is why I came to this conspiracy site and attempted to initiate some open minded thought provoking discussion on it. Maybe we are having more meteorite strikes than the models predict, so we will have to investigate why the models are wrong, and maybe some already know why the models are wrong but would like to keep this knowledge from the public - it certainly has happened before, are you saying something like that is impossible?

So really its a thread nothing to do with NASA, nothing to do with any meteor strike, but a what if exercise until someone asks the logical question, "What points to a conspiracy or cover up?" and your reply is Do you even believe in that cover ups happen?

Or Are you saying something like that is impossible?

Why is this in the fragile earth forum?

Its either grey area or chit chat seeing as you came here to chit chat about a what if scenario.

Are you stalking my posts and threads again? Does it bother you that I don't believe what we are spoonfed by the MSM, governments and paid for science? Why are you always defending these false paradigms?

You don't think it is logical to ask someone on a conspiracy website if they believe in ANY conspiracies?

Of course people on here are not going to believe in all, many or some conspiracies. I don't believe in some conspiracies.

So do you understand the difference between asking someone:

So, you don't believe in this conspiracy?

or

So, you don't believe in any conspiracies?

The former is a ridiculous question and I have never asked it, the latter is valid.

Why is it valid? Well, why would someone come to a conspiracy website if they did not believe in any conspiracies?

They are either a closed-minded annoying trouble maker who sole aim is to harass other people, or they are a disinformation agent, who we know exist and are legion on the internet.

Do you think I should bother to waste my time with either type?

Why are you delusional?

Either answer or please show me where I always defend false paradigms or anything for the matter?

No it doesn't bother me in what you believe or don't, I am not stalking your posts but you seem to have rather serious issue about stalking as its not the first time you asked.

Do you ask that of every other poster that replies to you?

Do you ask that of other posters who actually interact with you more than I do?

Or do you need to use that language because my questions just stump you and maybe make you see things from another perspective that you had much trouble with a few years back?

This reply of yours to me just proves this thread is not NASA or any meteorite.

You don't think it is logical to ask someone on a conspiracy website if they believe in ANY conspiracies?

No I thinks its being paranoid. Not a bad thing though.

They are either a closed-minded annoying trouble maker who sole aim is to harass other people, or they are a disinformation agent, who we know exist and are legion on the internet.

Oh what small world you must live in to only have the two choices.

People have asked you what is the reason or purpose of a cover up with you to answer You haven't a clue its only a what if and are looking for input.

That is why I posted what I did, I asked why is it in this forum when it would be better suited in another and thought your premise of getting ATSers to do the thinking for you instead of having something to offer, you wanted the posters to create ideas for your NASA cover up of a meteorite crash that isn't even a NASA site.

Try seeing in few more dimensions other than the two you are stuck on, black and white. there are many other colours to see.

Do you think I should bother to waste my time with either type?

If its only 2 why not?

Once you see what individualism is you might have more than 2 types.

Personally I think everyone sees or thinks they see too many conspiracies where they don't really exist.

But, there is a very good reason for that:

Most people LOVE conspiracies!

It's true. Most people love the intrigue that comes with a conspiracy. The bigger and more complex the conspiracy, the better!

It's why certain movies, TV shows and websites like ATS do so well. It's a bit like gossiping, something that a lot of people tend to do.

Does that mean that there are no conspiracies?

No. I'm pretty sure that there are many conspiracies out there that come from all walks of life.

However, I really think sometimes we (we as in people) tend to go a bit overboard with it. Just as with anything (food, drink, etc) it's possible to over indulge.

ATS is a "conspiracy site", so one shouldn't be too surprised to see many conspiracy theories or ideas put out here. However, I do wish that people would post conspiracy threads in the actual "conspiracy" part of the forum. Fragile Earth is not one of the "Conspiracy" forums, it's a science forum, just like Space Exploration, Science, SETI, etc, (all the blue colored forum thumbnails).

Of coarse a rock fell from the sky. What would anyone have to gain by digging a hole by an airport and claiming something hit. Eyewittness accounts and ground monitering equipment picked up the event. If someone says otherwise they are blowing smoke for some reason.
