Ukrainian minister: 3 tanks cross from Russia

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine's interior minister says that three tanks have crossed into Ukrainian territory from Russia and were attacked by his country's forces.

The Interfax news agency quoted Arsen Avakov as saying that a "column" with armored vehicles crossed from Russia through border control points controlled by pro-Russian separatists near the Dyakove village in eastern Ukraine.

He said vehicles including automobiles and armored personnel carriers crossed the border. He said that three tanks went to the town of Snizhne about 40 kilometers (24.86 miles) from Dyakove. One remained there while two others left in the direction of the town of Horlivka and were engaged by the Ukrainian military.

Avakov said that "part of this column has been destroyed" by Ukrainian forces.

If the article is accurate then there is going to be some complications across the board on both sides of the coin.

Russia denies they sent any military units into Ukraine. If true then where did the tanks come from and who was operating them. I am wondering if the tanks were "given" to Pro Russian forces in East / South Ukraine. By giving the tanks to that group it allows Russia to issue the denial.

Another possibility would be the tanks were from Crimea. Its Possible they are the tanks that had Ukraine crews who defected to Russia.

Either way its not good.

I think it's very likely that the tanks were "gifts" for the pro-Russian forces, and since they're not actually manned by the Russian military, they can say they didn't send military units into Ukraine.

ETA - It looks like Russia has been pushing Latvia today to. Fighters were scrambled a record 4 times today.

In addition, Latvia said that Nato fighters that carry out air patrols over the Baltics scrambled a record four times on Thursday after a total of 16 Russian military planes were spotted close to Latvia's airspace.

Actually learn what genocide is.
When individuals take up arms and attack government forces, people are going to die. Maybe if Pro Russian forces stopped using human shields?

War can easily be avoided if Russia stopped interfering in Ukraine's internal affairs. Russia surely would not stand for foreign nations supporting Chechnya with weapons and tanks. Why should Ukraine accept Russia doing the same inside their territory?

Also the war has been ongoing since Russia invaded and occupied Crimea.

Yea and they will all jump at once. Korea will attack south, Israle will be hit from all sides, Russia will invade Eastern Europe and who knows what else and where. Keep and eye naturally on anything going on around oil fields.

Your still supporting the terrorists in Syria and and also the Ukrainian military usually has the same tanks as the Russian forces do.

War can be easily be avoided if the EU/Poland/America stopped interfering in Ukraine's affairs the same way how Qatar/Saudi Arabia should stop interfering in Syria's matters.

You and your pals really need to understand the concept of not putting words in other peoples mouth's. Your short sidedness coupled with assuming undermines your argument every time you open your mouth.

Then please explain why Russia has issues with Ukraine yet no issues in Syria?

The Ukraine government is fighting terrorist forces in the East / South of Ukraine. I make that claim since the latest media reports coming out are showing a collapse in support for "Pro Russians" from the civilian population in those areas.

The main difference between Syria and Ukraine is Ukraine is making all efforts to avoid civilian casualties. A task becoming more difficult since terrorist / Pro Russian forces are using human shields.

Russia, and several of you guys, support Assads actions.

Please explain the difference.

Anyway, turns out this story is propaganda. Not only has Russia scrapped all its T-64 tanks, but Ukraine is the country now in charge of modernizing T-64s. The modernized T-64BVs have been used in combat in east Ukraine, and sources from there have been claiming that they captured these tanks.
