The second executive order will instruct the Department of Labor to create new regulations requiring federal contractors to report wage-related data to the government, in the hope that it will hold them more accountable for salary differences based on sex or race. - See more at: www.abovetopsecret.com...

Good lord Obama needs to be impeached charged and tried for violating the Constitution / Treason.
If congress does not pass something, it does not mean he can force it with issuing an executive order. There is a reason we have check and balances among the 3 equal branches of government.
I hope like hell the Republicans are successful during the midterms and a real effort is made to remove this runaway administration using illegal executive orders from office. I would call for his impeachment and removal now but Democrats apparently cant see passed their own efforts to stay in office.
The failure of congress to act, all parties, against Obamas illegal actions is treason in and of itself. Knowing his actions are illegal and failing to do anything to stop him makes them an accomplice.
Secondly equal pay is right up their with the equal rights amendment. Which is to say everyone is protected under the law. If a person feels they are not being paid equally would it not be better for them to actually file a lawsuit using existing state laws and go from there?edit on 7-4-2014 by Xcathdra because: (no reason given)

Exactly! That same reasoning is why my mom, for example, made MORE money than her male colleagues. She was good at what she did, she knew it, and she was able to haggle her salary. Needless to say, her favorite colleague, John Dean, was angry at the employer when he found out my mom made more money. He'd been there longer.

Which is exactly why they don't want employees to discuss salaries and everywhere I've worked you could be terminated for said discussion.
I wish that people would just start standing up for themselves instead of always wanting something handed to them or be "protected".

It's really a way to worm federal regulations into what's left of the what used to be free enterprise. Just more socialism. And more legislating from the Executive Branch because CIC cannot make Congress do what he wants.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that some union contracts are tied to this wage. This means that those people will get an automatic raise if this takes effect.
As far as women getting equal pay is concerned, I don't have a problem with that, if it is for equal work. In my field, mechanical engineering, there is no reason that a woman, with an equal education and experience level shouldn't be paid the same as a man. However, a few things need to be taken into consideration. I work with a female engineer, who has just gone on maternity leave. I'm now working about 20-30 hours a week overtime and we have brought a temp in to cover the rest. I would say that this extra expense is why she is making less than I am.

Yep. Still lurking about. I have to watch what I post, because the company I work for has a person who does nothing but monitor our social media accounts. I knew that when I took the job and really don't mind because the money is REAL good.
