My money is on the cover up of the Philadelphia experiment.

Allegedly, in the fall of 1943 a U.S. Navy destroyer was made invisible and teleported from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Norfolk, Virginia, in an incident known as the Philadelphia Experiment. Records in the Operational Archives Branch of the Naval Historical Center have been repeatedly searched, but no documents have been located which confirm the event, or any interest by the Navy in attempting such an achievement.

The ship involved in the experiment was supposedly the USS Eldridge. Operational Archives has reviewed the deck log and war diary from Eldridge's commissioning on 27 August 1943 at the New York Navy Yard through December 1943. The following description of Eldridge's activities are summarized from the ship's war diary. After commissioning, Eldridge remained in New York and in the Long Island Sound until 16 September when it sailed to Bermuda. From 18 September, the ship was in the vicinity of Bermuda undergoing training and sea trials until 15 October when Eldridge left in a convoy for New York where the convoy entered on 18 October. Eldridge remained in New York harbor until 1 November when it was part of the escort for Convoy UGS-23 (New York Section). On 2 November the convoy entered Naval Operating Base, Norfolk. On 3 November, Eldridge and Convoy UGS-23 left for Casablanca where it arrived on 22 November. On 29 November, Eldridge left as one of escorts for Convoy GUS-22 and arrived with the convoy on 17 December at New York harbor. Eldridge remained in New York on availability training and in Block Island Sound until 31 December when it steamed to Norfolk with four other ships. During this time frame, Eldridge was never in Philadelphia.

"Against this confusing tapestry there have been a few constants. They are that one, Carlos Miguel Allende, claimed in the 1950s to have been a witness to a test at sea of a ship being made optically invisible using strong electromagnetic force fields when he was a sailor onboard the merchant marine vessel SS Furuseth in 1943. He also claimed that during another test that went wrong, some of the men caught fire, went mad, and - the most bizarre of all, some were embedded halfway into the deck of the ship. Others phased in and out of this reality, only kept here by the laying on of hands."

Organised religion with oil dependency based on no other alternative cheap fuel available as a close second.

I think religion is nothing more than a way for a few people in power to control the primal instincts of the human race which is to kill, rape plunder, ocuppy, and basicly be completely opposite of what civilised people are supposed to be like according to religion which is to be friendly and caring of one another. Not that this is a bad thing. It's just a big conspiracy. Human nature is nothing like what we accept as civilized. We are a killer race and always will be. religion keeps us in check.

By definition the most successful conspiracies are the ones that you haven't heard about and never will.

Evolution, I've never really bought into this, but it's without a doubt believed by many, and taught to all in any sort of school.

IF this is proven to have been true all along....just think of how many people have fallen for it!!

think of what that i m p l i e s !!

of course, it couldn't be true, LOL.

of course not. the powers that be have too much decency, and the masses are too diligent in their inspection of what is fed to them.

I came to say exactly that, and having seen it already said so well, that knowledge is in itself a small conspiracy about conspiracies.

That's difficult to get my thoughts around. It's more of a tongue twister or some weird paradox in learning rather than a conspiracy.

Well, look at it this way... some of us know that the most successful conspiracies are the ones you will never hear about. But we are keeping quiet about it.

excellent choice, an experiment where so many other directions came out.

the most notable is probable listed here

1) total control of the human collective(for mass mind control)
2) time travel and the results of time travel
3) SEX and the way they use it control people.(see the way they have flooded the western population with an obsession with sex) People talk about mind control, where this is one the the biggest things they use to control the population and keep our minds of things that really matter.

these few things are some of the biggest conspiracys that have worked.

also out of it came the MONTAUK program that no one is alowed to talk about and discuss even on the internet, except what they want to get out.

ONE LAST THING HOW DOES ANYONE KNOW THEY ARE NOT BEING CONNED AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME (e.g some important event that is being used by cheaters to get the result they want, and millions of people are watching believing that nothing adverse is happening)

I'd have to agree with the posters saying it's the one you've never heard about, but take it a step further to say it's the conspiracy hiding in plain sight.

Which could be any number of things depending on your perspective from ominous (yet widely reported) government experiments to supposed alien cover-ups (or even the invention of said aliens) to the most mundane of programs like flu vaccinations or the Internet...

But IMO the ultimate "hiding in plain sight" successful conspiracy that can be found at the root of all conspiracies for the past half century is "THE COLD WAR"...

A non-existent war by it's very definition, fought not on the battlefield, but in dark rooms, secret meetings, pulpits and every propaganda outlet right down to Bugs Bunny cartoons. A war that spawned everything from McCarthyism to Roswell hysteria to it's war on words stepchildren of War of Drugs and War on Terror. A war "WON" by a diseased, geriactric actor retired nearly two years when credited with his victory.

A war no one can question without being labeled traitor. A war hardly anyone questions. In all reality, a war that never existed! And the greatest victory the conspirators, propagandists, apologists and "patriots" ever claimed.

Without this "invisible enemy" conditioning, could the "alien conspiracy" have ever even taken foot? Would the "us versus them" political stance be such a given? Could you label whole regions of the globe "evil" and not be laughed at without said victory in your corner? Could you press your brand of organized religion so fervertly as "freedom of religion" without a secular demon to point to as the alternative? Could the oppressive, regressive and economic aparthied of capitalism be so championed as a "god given right" if not for the demonized alternative "proven" to be failure by the economic sabotage of it's moral superiors and successors?

Oh yeah, the cold war baby. Most successful and far reaching and CONTINUING conspiracy of all time.

The biggest conspiracy ever perpetrated is the idea, taught in school & reiterated by people in authority, that we should simply believe the news & "official reports" that the media & the government give us.

Critical thinking is just not encouraged--it is very easy to manipulate passive unquestioning masses.
