Interesting that this post here was just made hours ago while I come here to post something similar. I seldom visit this sub-forum.

Anyway, as per the title, anti-fear mongerers are ruining this site.

Throughout 2011 and 2012 there were many good and interesting topics being posted and discussed, perhaps dramatic, perhaps controversial, even interesting doom topics that while maybe confronting, at least they were given acknowledgement and consideration that you wouldn't find on a typical discussion board or news site. Some of these I posted myself, mainly in the global meltdown forum, which is how I built my star and flags relative high compared to my number of posts. This s&f profile has barely moved over the past nine or so months. I just don't want to post here anymore.

Every damn post that carries even a remotely foreboding narrative is being ridiculed, mocked and even threatened by the likes of those of an anti-fear mongering position. It's become so widely and commonly occuring that it seems many of our members who use to post such interesting material have likewise faded away.

I have no problem with members disagreeing with a topic at hand and perhaps explaining their reason(s) why, or otherwise challenging the topic with an alternative view point. What I refer to is the insulting and disrespectful treatment of members and their posts by those typical of anti-fear mongergers.

Funny though, that while the onslaught of anti-fear mongering diatribes has discouraged members posting such interesting topics as I have described above, it seems to have ironically encouraged some of the more nonesense and absurd topical posts.

I guess in the absence of some quality alternative news, that not denying can still be of a controversial and confronting nature, leaves room for little else but the absurd when those anti-fear mongerers have frigtened good contributing members away from posting. Anti-fear mongers certainly are not contributing to the site with any interesting content themselves as they are too occupied with trolling threads to post their insulting diatribes.

Yes, its an interesting point. I think its a simple case of "the boy that cried wolf".
We have had so many recent "doom porn" events that never come to pass that when a true event might possibly be foreseen it will simply be disregarded out of hand.
But the fact is, doom porn and survivalism has become a booming industry. Fueled by our fears.

You mean it wasn't always like this? I can't imagine a chemtrail or vaccine thread without insults..

You answered your own question:

Throughout 2011 and 2012 there were many good and interesting topics being posted and discussed

The lack of threads with any substance is staggering.

Every prophecy and prediction spiced with fear turned wrong and will be wrong in the future. There is a real conspiracies out there and rationale and smart conspiracy theorists debate them on this site. Childish fear mongering and stupid doom porn predictions you can discuss in general chit chat or that already dead 2012 predictions forums.

I see. So ATS should cater to the lowest common form of discussion and be 100% fear mongering paranoid propaganda with zero substance and no logic?

I mean it's got that in spades, but anyone who tires of the constant illogical posturing and voices their weary concerns in the form of contempt, are spoiling it?

2012 came and went. Did anything change?

ISON came and went. Did anything change?

Ahh well, we'll always have nibiru to carry us forward into the ignorant era of new age propaganda.

I am sure that little black dot in the picture I took of the sun with my $90 cmos camera is nibiru. I am sure. And those sprinklers, man look what they put in the water, all those colours. And you can't tell me that sun dog is a sun dog, I've seen sun dogs and thats no sun dog it's a ufo space ship decloaking.

I know. I read it on GLP.

It's the constant trash from the conspiracy-addicted fear mongers, that is ruining this site.

Indeed there is a lot of trash and absurd posts now. That's what I said in the OP. A forum replete with trash and anti-fear mongering.

I think that you can't make everybody happy. It is not possible. There will always be someone somewhere who will be against you for their own reasons. It is okay to be challenged, it is healthy. That is what happens when you are on a bidirectional media like the internet. TV is unidirectional, what ever is said on the tube cannot be commented on, we listen and watch and that is it, we are powerless to address issues which raise questions. On ATS, I think most the people will agree that we love the fact that we can all participate and add in on the conversation, even if sometimes what people add in isn't productive, every dog has its day.

If you don't like it then you have to toughen up buttercup because that is the way the world works when we have the power of freedom of expression. Respect others' views and don't tread on those who hate you, some have emotional problems or just had a bad day and/or are not thinking right or are just vile.

Don't worry about the hatters hattin', keep it real. By real I mean research and make sure what you are saying has some kind of foundation and be ready for criticism because that is what will happen on these types of media.

If you wish to delve in the fantastic, then make it clear in your OP what you will be presenting. Be honest, when we don't know for sure then say so. Not knowing is okay, I trust more someone who says he doesn't know then one who claims to know the truth. Be humble.

Whats ruining this site is the cry babies that start a thread give an opinion then cry to the mods because they don't like someone else opinion.

Throughout 2011 and 2012...

There is no speculative Doom Porn more terrible than the fact that after December 22, 2012 came and went we are still here. Just as we were and getting worse.

It has slapped the entire community in to a state of silence for a year now.

Part of the problem is that the prior cadre of writers concerning these topics had been drawing from a closed loop of information for more than 70 years, and they have exhausted their resources. They also don't have the background to any longer suss out how terrible things actually are and how much more horrible they are likely to get.

We are doomed to live out every story we have ever come up with, cyclically, and we are about to polish off some of the really terrifying ones here at the end of another cycle.

Fundamentally, the problem is that the doom porn is not powerful enough. Don't worry though, a new group is coming along that will put it all in to words that everyone will understand.

I agree.

Ever since Dec 21 2012 came and went the doom porn and end times crazies are just not listened to anymore, because that was the granddaddy of all doom porn.

It is pointless to stir people up with conjecture about a comet or a specific date, in fact such hings deserve to ridiculed especially when they fail to back up any of their claims with evidence. Its always "a feeling" or some channeled entity, or some youtuber showing images of the sun and saying solar flares are going to turn the planet into some mad max wet dream.

We've been waiting for an Apocalypse for ... ??? ... how long now?

If the Sumerian civilization had survived, they STILL be waiting for the RETURN of their gods, as forecast/promised.

Thing is, whether you're waiting for Aliens, Jesus Rapture Spaceship, WWIII, Zombies, Big Friggin Asteroid impact, Yellowstone go BOOM, whatever, all these thousands of years of waiting gets and little bit ... *yawn*.

Apocalypse? Doom?
How many have come and gone and NEVER HAPPENED already?

Doom Porn is currently out of fashion. That's last season's to do.
This season is all about Christians decrying the Rise of Atheism in the world as well as continuing to play the persecution card, even though they still own most of the Nukes on the planet.

I feel ya, OP. However, that's the nature of the beast that ATS has become. You have to have a bit of a warrior attitude if you're going to post a prediction of a potential disaster, earthquake, conspiracy, or apocalypse.

Writing threads about potential bad things in the future is a little like slinging poo into the rotating blades. Expect a lot of blowback when you toss the fecal matter into the fan. Some of it, however, will stick.

If you feel sure about your subject, put on your flame-proof suit, and post away. Just be prepared to stand your ground. I've been shredded before in threads. I don't care. If I believe in something, I'm willing to take the chance.

Well my friend, it may comfort you to know that we arent in the clear yet.

The Mayan calendar calculations are incomplete. The MSM taught that the Mayans observed a back to back year of 360 days. This isnt completely true. The Mayans viewed the last 5.25 days of each year as days of unluckiness, so they had a 5.25 day Mayan Government Shutdown at the end of each 360 day year.

So, if you account for the last 5.25 days of each of the last 13 katun's you get an end date of 9/16/2016 aka the biblical Feast of Trumpets (according to the Biblical SOLAR calendar).

5.25*13*20= 1,365 days..12/21/12+1365 days=9/16/16.

See the Book of Numbers 3:50 for the meaning of 1,365.

Dont let the loud cowards discourage you.

Seek and you shall find...ask and you shall recieve...you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

The truth:

Jesus died for our sins. Believe in Him and you will be redeemed. Time is running out. By 9/16/2023, His kingdom will be established.

I think what you're noticing is just a psychological/sociological phenomenon. See, ATS is nothing but a big playground for determining who's the "coolest". I know many members are well into middle and old-age, but literally nobody matures socially or emotionally beyond age 14 or so. So, one of the coolest-ass things you can do when someone posts a story that should raise alarm is to in effect say: "meh, this will never happen you doomtard lol". Its kids pretending they're way cool.

I love reading thru the doom stuff, Makes a great bedtime story.

But we must be careful and the nay-sayers are needed, one sided arguments are no good for debate. Im sure if you have enough evidence then the brain boxes of ATS will see thru the debunkers, or vice versa if its a pile of rubbish!

Dont worry too much about the put downs, people laughed at the wright brothers once!

Unfortunately, that's become the nature of the beast, because that's what so many people want. I've watched this ugliness progress since January of 08, here and elsewhere on the web. Some may just be having a bad day... some may just be the equivalent of the playground bully who only feel better about themselves when they make someone else feel bad about themselves... some are sincerely trying to correct what they consider "nonsense" or blasphemy... some remind me of my kids as teenagers when they thought they knew everything and no one else knew anything... and then there are those who seem to deliberately disrupt the flow of information and conversation with the sole intention of keeping the truth hidden -- or at the very least muddled.

For example, just look at all the hateful posts that keep getting the Sandy Hook threads shut down... and therefore any rational and reasonable discussion. I feel for the mods and their sense of responsibility, who have made their position very clear, again and again, and yet it keeps happening. Coincidence? I can't believe that.

At this point, it's almost amusing watching which threads/subjects are attacked with full force... almost. The consequences are too serious for any real amusement. But it's still informative
