Thanks alot alfa1. i must be a bad googler! i typed spectrum analysis of ison, and got nothing.
the 3 links shows spectrums but fails to give a "simple" explanation of the spectrum and the contents.
i found this in one of the links "quote"the emission of CN (cyanogen), C2 (two carbon atoms), and C3 (three carbon atoms)
"Quote end"
do anybody care to elaborate what these 3 components are if i were to hold them?.

It's really wonderful that there is so much interest here on ATS about astral events. I guess it would be overwhelming to want to see ISON but not have any experience using Stellarium or any sites which tell where to look. Becoming even " acquainted" with the night sky in regards to constellations requires MANY nights spent looking up. I've been somewhat of an amateur astronomer since I'd say, 2010 when I got really into night-gardening, and it does require constant study to reinforce the knowledge of the location of different constellations. I got a telescope after my first one was damaged, but I gave it to our neices & nephew because I chose, based on online reviews, 1 that was too simple. It could view the moon beautifully, & Jupiter's moons, but I'm looking for something with more power.

I just want to say that getting to know the night sky satisfies a primal sort of longing, and I've only ever been rewarded for the time spent, not wishing I'd picked up a different hobby. Unlike the time I spent knitting!

CN - colorless, toxic gas with a pungent odor. - en.wikipedia.org...
C2 - colorless, acidic gas - en.wikipedia.org...
C3 - colourless gas - en.wikipedia.org...

Being gasses, you can't hold them in your hands, but C2 and C3 are regarded as soot precursors and are implicated in the formation of certain industrial diamonds and in the formation of fullerens, such as carbon nanotubes.

I'm in California on the coast - I haven't been up early enough to glance out that direction for a good view, but I'll see what I can do tomorrow morning - we've got clear weather lately and I might be able to get a good shot - awesome OP though, great shots. S&F.

You cannot see a car size satellite reflect sunlight from a distance of many thousands of km's.

Are satellites many 1000s of km away?

Are satellites/rockets supplied with air brakes that they know exactly when to stop at the appropriate heights?

Yes, not air brakes but disc brakes like on your car

Satellites are a hoax.

No you seem to be saying space is a hoax.

carry on
