Sorry to tell you this my friend, but what he created with obamacrap is a mess and one that is bound to fail, but then again perhaps that is what Obama wanted to begin with, so he could bring one payer system.

Time will tell.

I really wish you would stop using the silly names, it honestly does you a huge disservice. I can tell you are an intelligent person, but when people use silly names for things...it just comes of very bad.

Anyway, I agree in a way. I don't think Obama wanted the ACA in it's current form...I think it is what he settled on. The opposition he was getting from the public option was too strong and I blame the Congressional Democrats for not having the backbone to stand up and support it. Obama can't pass legislation...he can only suggest what he would like...he needs the Congressional Democrats to back him up on it...and they did a very poor job of that.

I think this new system will eventually 'fail'...not in the sense that it won't work, but in the sense that people will still be paying pretty high costs for healthcare. However, it will help in a way because we will no longer have to worry about being denied lifesaving treatment because we forgot to put down on our insurance application that one time we fainted when we were a teenager. Or worry that our children may be kicked off our insurance when they need life saving treatment because we forgot to put on the application that they had one asthma attack when they were 4 years old.

It's not going to solve everything...healthcare costs are still going to be high...but there is good in it as well.

I do think that Obama and the Democrats know that this isn't their final goal...but I think they also know that the country isn't ready for a single payer national healthcare solution. But because our population is how they are...you can't just logically explain this to them...they have to experience it for themselves first.

The best thing about the ACA is that there is no moving backwards from it...we can only move forward. The only options left to us are to incorporate a public option into the current model and then after that, single payer.

We will get there...but it will just take some time due to our divisive population.

I agree with you completely. It's unfortunate that the willful ignorance of so many people causes them to be complicit in their own brainwashing. Ironically, the Right's propaganda machine created a paleoconservative monster they can't control (the Tea Party) and like Dr. Frankenstein, the neocons are operating in fear of their own creation. Hopefully the Republicans tire of the tail wagging the dog enough to abandon an insane obstructionist platform and disentangled themselves from the TP so the rest of us aren't forced to suffer through year after year of dysfunctional governance.

The folks who are getting the free stuff don't like the folks who are paying for the free stuff, because
the folks who are paying for the free stuff can no longer afford to pay for both the free stuff and their own stuff.

And the folks who are paying for the free stuff want the free stuff to stop.
And the folks who are getting the free stuff want even more free stuff on top of the free stuff they are already getting!

Now... the Socialists, after forcing the class of people who pay for the free stuff, have told the people who are RECEIVING the free stuff that they are entitled victims and the people who are

PAYING for the free stuff are being mean, prejudiced, and racist.

So... the people who are GETTING the free stuff have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for
the free stuff by the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free stuff and giving them the free stuff in the first place.

We have let the free stuff give away go on for so long that there are now more people getting free stuff than paying for the free stuff.

A certain block of voters figured out they could vote themselves money from the treasury (your money) by electing Socialists who promised to give them money from the treasury in exchange for electing them.

The low information voters and Unions can vouch for this!

The United States officially became a Republic in 1776, 236 years ago. The number of people now getting free stuff
just about outnumbers the people paying for the free stuff.

Failure to change that spells the end of the United States as we have known it; alas there are plenty who seem head strong on doing that very thing.

ELECTION 2014 IS COMING... Vote, vote, vote, and if voter fraud is found raise hell all the way to Washington

A Nation of Sheep can breed a Government of ravenous Wolves!

That was so well said!

Can I ask why are people not OUTRAGED at the INSURANCE COMPANIES who are making millions in profits and still cutting people??? Everyone is blaming OBAMACARE but no one, not one government official or citizen group is addressing the real issue which is the INSURANCE COMPANIES????? why is that???

It seems like we all have a problem with the Band-Aid (obamacare) while we ignore the actual sore (insurance companies)

because the first black democratic president was able to sign it into law. if you haven't noticed during the last 5 years, the right-wing has opposed everything that Obama wants to do, even if it was, at one time, a recent republican idea. republicans for decades have shown that they are not for the common man, they represent the corporate and the wealthy, and any type of program that may tax them for the benefit of the rest of the population, is fought against tooth and nail. ever since franklin Roosevelt instituted protections for the common man through legislation, the republicans have been slowly dismantling those protections, along with the right-leaning supreme court overturning the basic tenant of the civil rights act passed by Lyndon Johnson...you are seeing this in action right now in the state of Virginia, where the republicans in state leadership positions have thrown over 60,000 voters off the election rolls 4 weeks before an election.
the republicans don't want poor people to have health care, they don't want to help them get jobs, they don't want them to be paid more in wages, they don't want them to vote, they don't want to help pay for their education, they don't want them to organize a union, they don't want regulations protecting people from being victimized by companies, in regards to the air they breathe, the clean water they need, the safe food they should eat, etc...why do I say this??...I simply have to look at the voting records of republicans who hold office both nationally, and in the individual states.
and my own caveat to this is...the democrats are far from perfect, there have been members on the left that have been outed for corruption as well they should be, they have also helped in sending jobs overseas, and not done a good job in protecting those jobs at home. my solution?....I and a lot of my republican friends (yes I have those) think that "we the people" should get the money out of politics. this is one piece of legislation where the right and the left should be 100% in agreement, and force our politicians to pass it into law. I refuse to be negative about our country, we need changes, but, we do not need to turn this into a bloody revolution....I somehow believe that there are powerful people that think there are benefits to it turning into that, and are actively "goading the beast of anarchy"

In summary:

"Because...raaaaaaccciiiiisssst! LOL

WW,

This is why I love you.

You ask very valid and direct questions, which to me means a person who has the ability of critical thinking skills.

Most people can't keep their eye on the ball when it comes to the media, government, and loads of BS.

I created a thread a week ago that addresses most of your questions.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

It's because it was the insurance company cronies that wrote the entire bill in the first place, and since the government does not represent the people of the USA anymore, we get a complete debacle like we have currently.

Peace,

RT

I shall wait for a pie to be chucked in my face for the following comment but:

We always hear doom and glooming from Obamacare, does anyone have any figures on how many people are going to benefit from it? I dont mean projections of numbers either I mean a cold hard number of people who are better off?

But on the side, I feel for the people losing out because of it, paying more then they should and losing original cover.

Kinda makes me want to praise the NHS

The "poor" may benefit as more of the people stuck in between will have an option, but at the cost of the middle class.

I think the temporary band aid could have been the expansion of Medicad/Medicare so that people that were stuck in between were covered.

You hear all these stories about people who can now get "cheap" insurance. But they leave out the household income and number of dependents. I priced out through my state's exchange, and we don't qualify for any subsidy - we are too "rich" - news to my wife and I.

You know, I have stated this before, but I don't think people believe me.

We didn't need Obamacare to begin with, what we needed was a way to do away entirely with health insurance.

If no one had health insurance, no one would be able to go to the doctor because of how expensive it is.

If no one can go to the doctor, healthcare providers lose money. If healthcare providers lose money, they quickly begin lowering their rates so that people can actually pay for care.

The entire concept of insurance is a ridiculous ponzi scheme.

Healthcare is expensive because healthcare providers know that insurance companies will help to foot the bill, no matter the cost. So health prices steadily increase.

You forgot one of the issues at play here - we're expecting a 3rd party to pay every time we get a hang nail and go to the doctor's office.

For example, my auto insurer would laugh at me if I submitted a claim for an Oil Change or any other regular maintainence on my cars to keep them running smoothly. If I was able to do that, of course my auto insurance premiums would go up... On the flip side, that's why I can get an oil change for $30 - often times with discounts.

If we simply went to a catastrophic coverage (possibly with HSA's), you would see the prices come down and health care providers would have to drop prices as you say for minor procedures. I have medication check-ins every 6 months where I spend 15 minutes with my doctor where all she does is take my vitals and ask if anything has changed. My ins. company gets billed $300 for that. Most reasonable people would say that's worth $50 tops.
