For all those pro gunners who claimed when sandy hook happened, that if everyone was armed it would not have taken place?

Does this incident prove that more guns do not mean safer environment? And these were trained professionals..do you still believe that arming teachers would have prevented anything?

By the way...this is your great second amendment at work...good job NRA and gun nuts. Put another mass shooting on you guys.

And just how many people on the base, in the US, do you think are walking around with guns? Just because they're military doesn't mean they all walk around with guns strapped to their hips ready to start shooting. Only the base police are armed.

It really doesn't prove anything of the sort. Military bases are, for the most part, gun free zones. Only base security will carry a firearm.

Good gravy dude....have you lost all the good sense God gave you? what are you talking about....you are being too much of a city type here.

People have the right to bare arms.......people need to get over it.

The 2nd amendment right does not cause events like these.....its mental health issues.

Please keep your hands of our rights......please.

I'll take my chances living in a relatively free country along with the inherent risks freedom brings. You apparently don't live here, yet you feel you have to spew your anti-gun rant ?? Don't let any event go by where an anti-gun agenda can be hoisted.

I seriously hate to agree with the hard core gun guys, but in this case I have to agree, in the military for seven years, and only held a firearm one time on base.

Remember that people who crash cars are car enthusiasts.
Damn car nuts kill 10's of thousands annually.
Driving a car is as much a choice as pulling a trigger.

I see this type of comment quite often from folks that live in countries that have strict gun laws. We as Americans get it, you don't have guns where your from, and can't grasp the idea why any sane person would want one. What I don't understand is why the hell you're so worried about it? You don't live here, you live in some paradise where daisies make love to puppies. So go sniff the flowers and quit worrying about Americans and our guns. We got this.

The op has asked and pointed out that the problem is guns however failed to take into account several things in his analysis of what happened.

The first point is that we do not know why, nor how many or what all is going on. All anyone can say is that some person, on a military base, in Washington DC opened fired and people are dead. Including the shooter, with some suspects that are at large. That is all that anyone knows.

But before you go and condemn or state that we should get rid of firearms there are a few things that can be stated: Washington DC has tough gun control laws, including restrictions on who can and the types of firearms that a person can own and possess. This did happen on a military base, where the guns and firearms controls are even more controlled and strict. So what has happened that we can state is that a person, who is choosing to break the law, brought several firearms into a city that already has tough gun control laws on the book, onto a military instillation that has even tougher gun control regulations in place and killed people. And yet people still don’t see the irony of this all, and that is that a person who is intent on breaking the law, is not going to follow the law, so why do those people who call for tougher gun control legislation intend on punishing all of the country for the actions of the few?

Yep, it was awful! Them damn guns just jumped up from the table all by themselves and began shooting . They even reloaded and aimed at people, pulling their own triggers again and again.

What a load of crap this thread is. Oh by the way love all your flags.

You might want to keep your Obama loving anti-constitutional opinion to yourself. No one is buying it any more. You are on a sinking ship right along with your captain.

Do you know how the bad guy with a gun was stopped? A good guy with a gun showed up and killed him. More good guys with guns equals quicker dead bad guys with guns. ANY good guy with a gun, and not just wait until a cop shows up.

I made a thread about that a few weeks ago.

IF anything, that story is a good example of why our citizens deserve a right to have firearms. People have died from the "knockout game" and that guy had fate on his side that day.
