I'm just glad Rand Paul is on the Senate Foreign Relations committee, I have a feeling there will be a massive grilling taking place. Kerry and Hagel are freshly marinated from their 'newfound' hawkish positions on military intervention in Syria.

According to this: presspass.nbcnews.com...

Rand Paul believes the Senate will "rubber stamp" Syrian intervention with their democratic majority.

BUT he also believes the HOUSE will be 50/50 on whether or not we authorize intervention in Syria. I don't know about you guys but I'll be calling my congressmen and senators tomorrow. The people still overwhelmingly agree that we must not go into Syria, I hope the congress reflects that.......

On a side note: I heard some MSNBC panelists talking about another "Rand Paul filibuster" but the unfortunate reality is that after his 13 hour filibuster, I don't think the democrats will ever let him control the floor again. It sucks because he is the most vocal [Syrian intervention] opponent in the senate.

A leading skeptic of U.S. intervention in conflicts abroad said Sunday that he believes there is only a "50/50" chance that the GOP-controlled House will vote to authorize the use of U.S military force in the Syria.

"I think it's at least 50/50 whether the House will vote down involvement in the Syrian war," Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky said on NBC's Meet the Press.

"I think the Senate will rubber stamp what [Obama] wants but I think the House will be a much closer vote," he added. "And there are a lot of questions we have to ask."

Paul, a staunch defender of civil liberties who has battled against members of his own party over the government's use of drones and NSA data collection programs, said he believes it's a "mistake" to get involved in a civil war in Syria that could escalate "out of control."

so my boss thinks that he is going to congress just so they can say no, and when they say no he gets to back out. When he backs out he will look like a great leader, but he also says eventually thy will be there. also he says america wont do anything without the queens backing and since she is out so is amerika

I want to agree because if he does back out with congress the decision people might cut him some slack when they start paying attention to all the other scandals he is involved in.

but, at the same time war is a brewing, and this is a perfect opportunity to kick it off.

i guess we will see

Folks we are LIVE LIVE LIVE

Here is the working C-SPAN link : www.c-span.org...

Update: a large man in a CODE PINK (pink shirt) was holding up pink signs screaming NO WAR IN SYRIA. Comic relief, made his point, now he has been escorted out.

Update: Chairman of the committee, Robert Menendez (D-NJ) has just announced his personal support for Obama for military intervention even though he has voted against Iraq and Afghanistan authorization. This doesn't show that he is unbiased, this just shows exactly how biased he is. Anti-war with a R in the oval and pro-war with a D in the oval. He made this one way too easy...

Update: John Kerry just started with...PRESIDENT OBAMA'S VISION...........

The traitors will vote to support military action

If you didn't believe before that this government does not answer to its populace before, YOU WILL TODAY

Keep voting for Democrats and Republicans people, I will say this until I am blue in the face:

IF YOU, AS AN AMERICAN, CONTINUE TO VOTE FOR AND SUPPORT THESE TWO PARTIES THAT ARE SERVANTS OF THE ELITE, YOU ARE COMPLICIT IN THEIR CRIMES.

You are at fault here. Everyone who votes (D) or (R) is to blame.

END THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM. END THE LEFT/RIGHT PARTISAN NONSENSE.

Thanks for the post and links

Anyone feel like getting drunk while watching this? Feel like i am going to need a drink.

Its ironic that this will probably get congressional approval, yet popular approval is left wanting…. Democracy?

Additionally, if the US acts with United Nation Security council approval, would they not be guilty of similar actions to those of North Korea? Disregarding UNSC demands etc etc.

"Not uphold justice"
"Let children's death's go unpunished?"

"Not a declaration of war, but a declaration of our values"

It would be mighty disappointing if Rand Paul is the only voice of opposition in this entire hearing...I think he might have an ally or two. I'm really curious to see if Mitch McConnell ends up on Rand's side on this.

It's the Powell-Effect all over again, everyone kinda knows or feels it's all a charade, but they still manage to keep a straight face and go through with it.

I'm hearing a lot of pro-war sales pitches from slick salesmen but I'm not seeing any evidence presented. Now I'm thinking this entire hearing is going to just be pro-war rhetoric?

I can't wait to see Rand Paul tear Kerry a new one.........no evidence?? NO WAR.

Is it just me,or the does the military lady behind Kerry look neither impressed with nor convinced by him? I'm getting the biggest kick out of watching her subtle reactions to him speaking, it's the little things going on in the background that give you a better idea of how the "convincing" has been going before this hearing.

I think she may have a cell or tablet in her lap, she almost acts like she's texting/IMing/emailing/communicating with someone.

Have you already seen the declassified part of U.S. Assessment, the unequivocal evidence?

Where are the speakers that are against this? All I've heard is that if we don't do it then we have let the innocent children down ..... well aside from that protester! Also Kerry said when he first started he had feeling very similar to her, so my question is what changed his mind? Who paid him and how much did they pay him to change his mind?

Don't be too disappointed, Kerry and Hagel are both appointments of Obama. How bad would it look if they opposed his wishes? Merely from a political perspective, of course.

Yes, only this time they've dropped the satellite images and included a map. Compelling he just said.
