10 Countries That Love (and Hate) America the Most.

Who loves ya, baby? If you’re the United States of America, the answer is fewer and fewer people around the world.

In Britain, France, Germany and nearly a dozen other prominent nations, the percentage of people with a favorable view of the United States has declined over the last decade, according to a new global survey by the Pew Research Center.

That trend has been apparent since the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq, which was highly unpopular in many countries. The 2008 financial meltdown marked another slip in America’s reputation, as many people blamed Wall Street for a global recession that still weighs on the world economy. Controversial drone strikes aimed at terrorists and childish political antics in Washington continue to mar America’s image abroad.

The most favorable impressions of the U.S.:

1. Philippines (percentage with a favorable view of the United States: 85%)
2. Israel (83%)
3. Ghana (83%)
4. Senegal (81%)
5. Kenya (81%)
6. El Salvador (79%)
7. South Korea (78%)
8. Italy (76%)
9. Uganda (73%)
10. Brazil (73%)

The least favorable impression of the U.S.:

1. Pakistan (percentage with a favorable view of the United States: 11%)
2. Jordan (14%)
3. Palestinian territories (16%)
4. Egypt (16%)
5. Turkey (21%)
6. Greece (39%)
7. China (40%)
8. Argentina (41%)
9. Tunisia (42%)
10. Lebanon (47%)

Some of the response were obvious. For example, Pakistan was at the top of the list for countries that hated the US. I wonder why...

I'm curious about the difference in attitudes between Italy and Greece. They are neighboring nations, both have had economic disasters yet their opinions are very different.

I'm also curious to know how they decided on which nations to poll. Why isnt Libya on the list?

I'd like to know what they think.

Either way.

The public can think what they want about other countries but it comes down to how the leaders of the countries get along at the end of the day.

Seriously, every time there is an election in the UK, one of the first things that comes up is whether or not this PM will be liked personally by other leaders, mainly the US.

wow!

I fully expected to see UK on both lists.....

Not even on one! Strange.

I think its a reflection of the govt and not the people.
I hate the US, not so much the people.
There is a lot of bad flack over seas about your gun policies, the world is being brain washed guns, not people are evil.

Dont stress it

It’s not surprising that some countries dislike America. I would guess its primarily because of our actions overseas. How can we blame them? Most Americans are unhappy with our county’s actions, too.

On the flip side, this seems like a propaganda piece. Look at the intro!

Who loves ya, baby? If you’re the United States of America, the answer is fewer and fewer people around the world.

Gee, I wonder what the authors agenda is?

The decisions I make in my life are guided by my moral convictions and are for the betterment of my family. If the same were true about the decisions our government makes I might be more inclined to stand behind its decisions. Unfortunately, our country doesn’t always have the moral high ground.

So what nations do people in the US generally love / hate?

...or do we need a geography lesson for people before they are asked that question here? Some of the 'man on the street' interviews are downright eye opening on that. lol

Because the rebel militias are holding the polltakers in their torture jail. There have not been any elections. Democracy is a US scam to control/destroy the M.E.

Why is this? I just don't understand why American influence/politics still have so much power over other countries. We're 3 steps removed from a 3rd world country!

Israel.. 83% in Israel approve of us, but I bet if Americans were polled you might get 70% that does not approve of them .

haha

I think you hit one of the reasons there is some disrepect in places like the UK toward Americans.

Its also one of the reasons I am wary of the USA too.

I think 75% Americans are great people that are little diffrent to me (with the exception of squeaky acsents
)and I meet some great people on my vist but...... there are 25% of Americans that are arrogant dumb xenophobic morons who really get under my skin. And when I think of those sorts with some of the worlds most advanced military tec and biggest military in world it makes me scared

I dont hate the USA but it makes me uneasy.

I think it has to do with being scared in the political arena.

UK is still relatively powerful when it comes to military (although not for much longer). So were good there.

But politically, we need big allies to have any ground. Hence why having the US as our biggest ally means everything. Also, if we was to go to war, the general assumption is our allies in the US would help us out.

Thats my GUESS.

You probably right.

Though in most countrys they dont have the tec to blow up the world

Just the Idea that one of "those" sorts of people could be sitting in a ICBM control room.....or manning one of the new laser weapons.....makes my skin crawl.

How did US get all of that tec if we’re all so dumb?

Don’t worry….that’s not the case. Don’t let your imagination (or misconceptions) cloud your better judgment.

[Edit to add - Sorry, crazyewok! Nothing lasts forever. The Zimmerman race trial is over so now we have to go back to arguing with each other about America!

Im sure they have a screening process to filter out the rednecks from those sort of jobs. May as well use em for cannon fodder

Na my biggest concern is that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. And Amricans are no more diffrent from any other humans. My concern if that without another power to "temper" them its only a matter of time before they abuse that power (which there starting to do already).

Ask America what they think of those countries?

They don't have a 'favorable opinion'.

This American doesn't have a favorable opinion of any country in the world.

Cept Japan who is going to take over the world with their giant killer robots

The only one that surprised me any was Greece. I would have thought the UK would be there instead of greece. Interesting stuff. On second thought, Canada not being one of the top favorable ones is surprising as well.

Better to be feared than loved?

When Canada was asked how they felt about the United States, "Meh" was the consensus
