I agree, the goal is to post things that /merit/ stars and flags. But the merit is important, not the stars and flags. Where is the merit of this thread?

I marked the thread for deletion - But after an hour went by, and it was still up... I decided to switch the title and purpose of the thread. Based on the conversation that was taking place.

I've never made a thread - I'm unfortunately a dime-a-dozen reactionary thinker, I blame public schools - but I wonder how many flags your intellectual inspirational influences have had. If I were a betting man, I'd say all of mine have zero between them.

On another point, I do agree that Snowden is overblown and we should keep our guard up and maintain skepticism; but that's just like, our opinions, man.

I 'marked' this thread to be deleted.
But that is not the same thing as a 'flag' on the thread itself.

I changed the thread title to "*****DELETE***** -
after the convo with DocHolidaze began to fill the front page with an argument, instead of anything else.
After an hour had passed, the thread still hadn't been removed.
so I then edited the original post to be about the argument.
Taking the 'stars n flags' accusations, and exposing the instigator.
He lost the argument, and I got the stars I so needfully craved.

I had no point in creating this thread... and I don't need one.

I did so on a whim...
a spur of the moment, light bulb going off, troll-face troll-face, whim.

Ah, then we don't agree. Really this is where I should drop our discussion. It doesn't matter what I think and you likely won't take interest in it. But ultimately the point I wanted to get across was, joke forum or not, flags and stars or not, the joke should at least be funny. If you have to explain the punchline ("what is fin?") nothing kills the joke more. I mean, I know it doesn't matter. But for some reason, I'm betting you'll be compelled to reply too.

You don't understand what I meant by reactionary-thinker mindset. I didn't imply that I was afraid of self-expression or being flamed, if I was I wouldn't be expressing my self in this thread and being flamed in this thread, would I? What I meant to imply, was that my relative strength intellectually is in analyzing the ideas of others. I have a capacity for original though just like anybody, but I want my posts to contribute something, and they contribute more as replies or as collaborating on the ideas of another - as far as I can tell. It's not a problem, it's a pragmatic use of bytes... this conversation not withstanding.

I guess I agree with you. It doesn't matter what people post, especially in this forum, it doesn't even have to be funny. I just wondered "why", and I got an answer, "on a whim." Lol.. and now we for some reason have hostile tones, sorry about that.

It's my thread, and I want those who don't get it - to understand the reason behind it, and why it was changed.

The original OP was funny - dry, but funny.
It is now lost in the distraction of the discussion that took place.

I don't mind - because I did so to 'troll' my 'troller'. (if you will)

I wasn't even going to post it - which is why I thought about just having it removed.
I changed my mind after I started receiving stars; while I was arguing about that same very thing.

As for your reactionary thinking...
some of the best posts can be made impulsively.
Even if you only contribute a small amount to get the ball rolling, you may end up with a lot more than you started with. I only suggested fear of self expression, because I thought you didn't want to create a thread for the reason of not thinking it through all the way before you posted it - leading to being ridiculed.

In any case. there's no reason to be sorry.
I don't take replies too personal - if you want to know, you want to know.
The opinions of others, on something I've said doesn't necessarily offend me.
If somebody wants an explanation for a comment I've made, I'll give it to them...
Unless, I decide that I don't need to explain myself... but sometimes, I want too.

Either way, it doesn't matter.
It is what it is.
