Mine is a relatively obscure song by Pink Floyd, The Nile Song (1969). I don't know how to put videos or songs on ATS from my phone (if there even is a video?) so here's the lyrics instead. Enjoy!

I was standing by the Nile
when I saw the lady smile.

I would take her out for a while,
for a while.

Light tears wept like a child.
How her golden hair was blowing wild.

Then she spread her wings to fly,
for to fly.

Soaring high above the breezes,
going always where she pleases.

She will make it to the island in the sun.

I will follow in her shadow,
as I watch her from my window.

One day I will catch her eye.

She is calling from the deep,
summoning my soul to endless sleep.

She is bound to drag me down,
drag me down.

Best Pink Floyd Song Ever. Yes. yes, I know.

So what song do you feel sums you up? Tell why, if you dare.

"Imagine"

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

The reason is because I hope for a better world... unfortunately its something that is only a dream...

The peace keepers are disposed of in this world... Always have been...

Thus the world is exactly how its supposed to be... Chaotic, disturbing... Painful, and beautiful

And that will never change

Oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

we've Got The Right To Choose And
there Ain't No Way We'll Lose It
this Is Our Life, This Is Our Song
we'll Fight The Powers That Be Just
don't Pick Our Destiny 'cause
you Don't Know Us, You Don't Belong

oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

oh You're So Condescending
your Gall Is Never Ending
we Don't Want Nothin', Not A Thing From You
your Life Is Trite And Jaded
boring And Confiscated
if That's Your Best, Your Best Won't Do

oh.....................
oh.....................
we're Right/yeah
we're Free/yeah
we'll Fight/yeah
you'll See/yeah

oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

oh We're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh We're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
no Way!

oh.....................
oh.....................
we're Right/yeah
we're Free/yeah
we'll Fight/yeah
you'll See/yeah

we're Not Gonna Take It
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

we're Not Gonna Take It, No!
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

just You Try And Make Us
we're Not Gonna Take It
come On
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
you're All Worthless And Weak
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore
now Drop And Give Me Twenty
we're Not Gonna Take It
oh Crinch Pin
no, We Ain't Gonna Take It
oh You And Your Uniform
we're Not Gonna Take It Anymore

Wow that is a tough question to answer....

I think "hey you" from Pink Floyd speaks to me at some level but these days, it's mostly this one:

www.rollingstone.com...

Wish I knew just what to do when trouble really starts
You can't hold it in your mind
You can't run it on down that line
It's not made that way by design

I filled it up from your lovin' cup
When my back's already against the wall
I've been humbled like this before
You can't walk on out that door It's not made that way anymore

So I'm Laid back, take me back to where I'm laid back
There's trouble on every track So just keep it laid back

Wakin' time's a weightless time Tell me who you really are
You've been racing cross your mind
You can't rush to make a dime
I'll just idly bide my time

So I'm Laid back, take me back to where I'm laid back
There's trouble on every track So just keep it laid back

If I listed all the songs that personifies my spirit it would end up being a box set.

If I had to choose just one song it would be VNV Nation Sentinel.

Here are the Lyrics:

Can we say that we are free?
Our hands are bound and voices silent.
I'm sure it's not a dream,
I am awake, my eyes are open.

I can't accept and won't concede,
In aftermath we find redemption.
The causes that are seized,
And disguised as revolution.

Quell the rage that deeply seethes,
The extremes of these devotions.
Dismantle the machine,
The device of their creation.

I can't accept and won't concede,
That this is who we are.
The conflict that is seized,
And disguised as greater notions.

To the songs that sing of glory and the brave,
Are we dreaming there are better days to come?
When will the banners and the victory parades,
Celebrate the day a better world was won?

On the day,
The storm has just begun,
I will still hope,
There are better days to come.

In the face of what I say,
My words would turn to anger,
Malevolence in need,
Cannot provide direction.

I won't accept this thought,
That this is who we are.
Positions never change,
Losing all forward motion.

Harbour that which deeply seethes,
Temper your devotion,
Dismantle the machine,
The device of your convictions.

I can't accept and won't concede,
That this is who we are.
The conflict that is seized,
And disguised as greater notions.

To the songs that sing of glory and the brave,
Are we dreaming there are better days to come?
When will the banners and the victory parades,
Celebrate the day a better world was won?

To the songs that sing of glory and the brave,
Are we dreaming there are better days to come?
When will the banners and the victory parades,
Celebrate the day a better world was won?
On the day,
The storm has just begun,
I will still hope,
There are better days to come.

On the day,
The storm has just begun,
I will still hope,
There are better days to come.

TANYA TUCKER - TWO SPARROWS IN A HURRICANE LYRICS

She's fifteen and he's barely driving a car
She's got his ring and he's got the keys to her heart
It's just a matter of time
They'll spread their wings and fly

Like two sparrows in a hurricane
Are trying to find their way
With a head full of dreams
And faith that can move anything

They've heard it's all uphill
But all they know is how they feel
The world says they'll never make it
Love says they will

There's a baby crying and one more on the way
There's a wolf at the door with a big stack of bills they can't pay
The clouds are dark and the wind is high
But they can see the other side

Like two sparrows in a hurricane
Trying to find their way
With a head full of dreams
And faith that can move anything

They've heard it's all uphill
But all they know is how they feel
The world says they'll never make it
Love says they will

She's eighty-three and he's barely driving a car
She's got his ring and he's got the key to her heart
It's just a matter of time
They'll spread their wings and fly

Like two sparrows in a hurricane
Trying to find their way
With a head full of dreams
And faith that can move anything

They've heard it's all uphill
But all they know is how they feel
The world says they'll never make it
And love says they will

It doesn't matter if I'm a celibate monk, because I'm a double-souled shaman, and we are in this together.

Plus the fact that one of my totems is the butterfly, tossed about by every wind.

I happen to love More! Cymbaline is one of my favorite Pink Floyd songs

The path you tread is narrow
And the drop is shear and very high
The ravens all are watching
From a vantage point nearby

Apprehension creeping
Like a tube-train up your spine
Will the tightrope reach the end
Will the final couplet rhyme

And it's high time, Cymbaline It is high time, Cymbaline Please wake me
A butterfly with broken wings
Is falling by your side
The ravens all are closing in
There's nowhere you can hide

Your manager and agent
Are both busy on the phone
Selling colored photographs
To magazines back home

And it's high time, Cymbaline It is high time, Cymbaline Please wake me

The lines converging where you stand
They must have moved the picture plane
The leaves are heavy around your feet
You hear the thunder of the train

And suddenly it strikes you
That they're moving into range
And Doctor Strange
Is always changing size

And it's high time, Cymbaline It is high time, Cymbaline Please wake me
And it's high time, Cymbaline It is high time, Cymbaline Please wake me

True. Very true.

A lot of Pink Floyd still speaks to me. It brings so much emotion, so I try to limit it as much as possible. Too many memories. Mostly good ones, but still powerful none the less.

Loved the vid
by the way. That long brown haired dude in the yellow shirt looked just like my high school sweet heart... Ah, memories...

When a was a little girl, this song used to actually make me cry. I was such an emotional child
Music still has a very profound affect on me, but I try not to cry (in front of others).

I feel like cranking this song up really loud for my kids when they start misbehaving. After all, I do catch myself saying to them a little too often, "your father and I aren't going to take it anymore"! Then I have to turn my face from them to hide the mile wide grin

Very cool background music. Powerful lyrics to say the least. Where do you find this stuff? People would lose their minds if their morning commute were suddenly integrated with this music. It would be awesome!

One of my dive partners when I worked off shore was from Scandinavia and turned me on to VNV Nation and I've been a fan ever since. It is definitely good music to get you up and moving, the music is like an audio version of 5 Hour Energy and all of their lyrics are really deep and meaningful.

Glad you enjoyed it.

But your song cheered me up. They were such a unique group of artists. Thank you for trying to send me the video.

Oh these lyrics, you know. This is why people love Pink Floyd. They speak the truth for so many.

Yeah I know what you mean. I find electronica/techno whatever you want to call the genre the best stuff to workout to. It really puts you in the zone for a few hours. You don't feel a thing and you sweat your bunny off
