if they indeed nullify the armistice agreement it's a HUGE step in my book, because you have to think about how the North Koreans think. Kim Il-Sung signed the armistice himself, their quasi god and eternal ruler, if the current government scraps what he did it seems to be quite serious.

Also I don't expect anything to happen right away, would be to obvious. You have to catch the enemy off-guard and maybe during the night. I hope I'm wrong and they won't do anything.

Also fun fact, wasn't the satellite launched on the 12th of December 2012? The Nuke was tested on the 12th of February. Tomorrow is the 12th

Also I want to include 2 tweets:

Steve Herman ‏@W7VOA
Rodong Sinmun prints poem by Kim Nam-ho: "Right now is the time To press our missile launch button Targeting Washington."

Steve Herman ‏@W7VOA
Unification Ministry says #ROK didn't even bother to make 1600 KST daily hotline call after #DPRK refused to pick up the phone at 0900.

It's awful that this is the state of the world. The amount of devastation this could cause is so astronomical it's terrifying.

I have no problem with DPRK's exploration and development of space. If they fail to respect other nations development and progress in this area then it is a problem, but until then they have every right.

The issues of nukes is not limited to DPRK but is a very big and serious global issue. Ultimately I want stronger and better global oversight of all nukes. The reality is that as international trust is weak and tensions are high the practicability of global nuke coordination is very limited. There are things that still can be done with common standards in accounting and security being established. In time and as foreign relations improve then hopefully better integration and strong global rather than national security interests will form. If you have any other ideas of what can be done about nuclear proliferation I would like to hear it.

The DPRK is willing to accept more democratic principles in governance with reunification. From what I have learnt about the DPRK, they have reformed their party structure to be more inline with democratic standards. They have not fully implemented a one person, one vote system but have taken steps towards it from the more socialist structure of the past. From the reunification documentation I have seen, the DPRK will still remain as a party and be on the platform with a national election. At least in the short term it is very much expected that the DPRK will remain the governing party in the Northern part of a unified Korea. To aid with the transition process it is a good thing as there will already be a lot of change, issues and uncertainty that will need to be addressed. In the longer term it is hard to say how this party will evolve or how the people will respond. Considering that 2/3rds of the population live in the South and 1/3rd in the North, the DPRK will have to work well and respond to the population if this party is to continue in the long term.

As for seeing DC burned, there are people on both sides of this wall that want some death and action. I want a way out of this mess rather than sitting in the mud pit.

Such a waste of time and money. Why is Kim Jong Un so hell bent on attacking someone?!
When his country is poverty stricken because he throws all the countries money at building nukes. He needs to get his priorities right.

Seriously? Who have NK attacked in the last 60 years?
Who has the US attacked?
Who has the US attacked that had nuclear weapons?

Put that all together and your question(s) is/are answered.

If NK had not forged ahead quickly with a Nuclear program (even to the detriment of the people) there would be bombs killing all the people anyhow and US soldiers "liberating" them at gunpoint.
DIT: Also take into account the sanctions and isolation our policies have forced them into- These people havnt done anything to us and honestly want to be left alone...The starvation could have been avoided had we allowed them to trade and such. The ONLY way they can maintain sovereignty and avoid a Rothschild bank is to have the ability to fight back ...USA doesnt like attacking countries which have armies and fight back.

The 'poem' was just translated, it's quite long, but I'll post it here:

"Right Now Is the Hour!"
by Kim Nam Ho

One heart
One will
Tens of thousands fiercely arise as one in this land
To pulverize the aggressor bunch
Who are rounding up the fiery clouds of nuclear war
In cooperative fields and zones of iron
Thousands of miles of defense lines cry out:
Now is the time
To pulverize the aggressor bunch
Who are rounding up the fiery clouds of nuclear war

Right now is the time
To press our missile launch button
Targeting Washington, the bulwark of US imperialism,
Which has left generations-long hatred in this land!

For generations,
Not one arrowhead or stone was thrown
At the United States across the Pacific Ocean
For over a hundred years and into the new century
We have overcome perilous peaks of trials
And made bullets for the ultimate settlement of accounts

With this sworn enemy, US imperialists
Who have forced misfortune and suffering on our nation
We have awaited nuclear weapons

Now
As the powerful national strength which has a grasp on nukes
The pride of a space-conquering, powerful state
Is fiercely racing through our blood vessels
So that the conviction in sure victory
That overcomes tens of thousands of enemies in one breath
Rises to touch heaven.

Now is the hour
When hatred and rage can no longer be contained
And erupts like a volcano
To relieve hearts knotted up with vengeance
So the entire nation embraces one another as one

Each mountain will be a launch pad for
Burning the US imperialists' fortress down to its foundational roots
The seas will rise up in whoa-whoa raging waves
To overwhelm the bands of aggression
Freezing fields and forests will cause
The enemies to faint standing

The land which cries for an ultimate settlement with US imperialists
With its tens of thousands of soldiers rising as a mountain range
The iron hammer for the demise and destruction of US imperialists held high
With the sky-high determination to wipe out the enemy
This country is swelled up as one huge, fiery ball of revenge
Let us blow up the base camp of war without even leaving ashes
For the ultimate victory of the Mt Paektu great nation

The time to establish the fatherland reunification work
Can no longer be put off It is not tomorrow, but now!
Right now is the hour!

I know, it's just sad to see a country that should be left alone if they want to be have to race to build nukes, when they should be allowed to rebuild and get the country out of poverty and now what? they're going to attack someone and it will all kick off.

Anyone know if they have cut off the hotline before?

We have a 20 something kid in charge of NK right now, one who was raised by his nut ball father, and was raised in luxury while the rest of the country starved, and is (supposedly) worshipped as a demigod. One would say he isn't actually likely to be stable. And more likely to try to "prove" himself to the military by ordering something stupid.

I would say the current situation is more tense than in the past, at least as bad as when they shelled that island a few years back.

I read on the BBC that the hotline has been severed at least 5 other times previously

I think that this will end with China unwillingly having to spank their bastard child.

Hopefully, finally... I personally think this entire notched up hissy fit from NK is purely because their papa up north finally said 'no'.

Personally I wish they would do something stupid, just so China can finally show the rest of us its willing to gag its errant dog. Thing is, China would hate to loose NK in my opinion, so if anything did happen im 100% sure China would swoop in asap to bring NK to heel with force by itself so it doesnt loose the land to some other nation invading or attacking NK in retaliation for anything NK might do.

Heres hoping nothing happens though... then again that country has gotta take its 'medicine' one of these days.

The hell with them! They want a nuke? Let's send them 4 or 5. 30 minutes delivery or they are free. I am sure we have a few neutron bombs gathering dust on the shelf somewhere. Maybe after that we can get to more important stuff like ending all foreign aid and getting the UN the heck out of our country.

Some idiots in the N. Korean establishment use gung-ho rhetoric, so you want to incinerate millions of innocents that live there?

God bless America

I wonder if seizing NK's assets abroad according to UN sanctions has anything to do with it...I don't know the monetary amount but that's gotta hurt NK's wallet...which could be the reason they're so pissed right now.

Supposedly the assets/accounts seized were being used to pay for military weapons shipments as such...well I know if somebody seized my bank account, I would be livid. I am curious if this has ever happened before...I don't think so.

Nothing will happen than the usual "hot-air" exchange. If you desire to attack your enemy and annihilate him you do not forewarn with "we are going to bomb you, you just wait and see" messages.

You just hit him with everything you got, at a time unknown to him, with your intentions well hidden, at a point that will hurt him severly.

Remember historical attacks like Operation Barbarossa (hitlers surprise attack on russia), Pearl Harbour and so on.

Just relax. A fat little kid, having no sense of good politics, trying to impress his generals, runs around screaming how dangerous he is.

I can assure you our military Intelligence don´t care about this clown. They only care what the DPRK generals, behind the 'throne' think.

I don't get how people can act like the NK is at fault when there is are two hostile armies on its borders. Russia in Cuba rustled some jimmies yet US on the BORDER of NK should be taken as a ordinary day, gtfo.

Not really. This isn't the first time they've invalidated the agreement, or cut the hotline.
