The Sequester Is Not Too Big, It Is Too Stupid

www.forbes.com

To put it in more understandable dollar terms, 2013 defense spending would be cut by about $43 billion, or roughly 7 percent. Non-defense discretionary spending—the money for foreign aid and most federal agencies—would be cut about $29 billion, or roughly 5 percent. Mandatory spending would be cut by $13.9 billion off a base of more than $2 trillion, or 0.7 percent. Truth be told, the overall size of the spending cuts is not a big deal.

The sequester is $85 billion in spending cuts.

So the majority of cuts will be in defense spending, OH NO! With so many countries attacking the US thats the last thing we need to cut.

Federal agency cuts account for the 2nd largest percentage while the "mandatory spending" cuts will be minuscule. For example, Joe Biden will supposedly have to take the train now.. lol..ol..ol.

But ask the MSM and its doomsday all over again. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these cuts actually sound good to me? I'm sure there are cuts that will not be cool, but by the math I'm looking at.. the majority are cuts that need to happen & any remainder wouldn't be significant.

Edit: the format for breaking news has been changed so I wasn't sure how to post. See the fox link for how Biden will be forced to ride the train now, laughable. Poor Joe Biden riding Amtrack, yeahhhh right.

I can't even imagine all that money in manifestation...it's like those digits have suddenly lost all meaning..

Your crying because the "defense" budget is being cut

You like spend more money in that sector than the rest of the world combined!

You could literally fund world peace and prosperity...

lol.. No, I don't have any problem with the defense budget being cut.

It was sarcasm.. like blatant sarcasm.

What made me laugh was a lot of liberals have been screaming about seriously cutting the defense budget for years and now that it's going to happen they are upset. Obama is acting like if the Sequester does go into effect then it will bring on the apocalypse or something and liberal's are the ones who say conservatives/libertarians are paranoid haha. If we can't make these cuts now how in heck are we going to make harder cuts in the future?

Ya know, just like the "fiscal cliff" this date for these cuts were put in place in order to force a decision by the deadline.

Noone notices the fiscal cliff was not averted.

Yet, we see threads about how taxes are all of a sudden higher. People aren't watching..

This is funny to me though because it cuts spending that the PTB would want to keep in place, it almost seems like it backfired because of how little attention the "fiscal cliff" actually got.

Turn the MSM on right now and then turn it right back off! lol, guaranteed within 10m though you will hear about the doomsday sequester hitting at midnight.

Its nothing! but when its played out like financial doomsday.. there are things going on behind the scenes.

The only reason foreign aid gets doled out so easily by the American government is because it benefits their interests to acquire and/or maintain control of global resources by way of holding the strings of their puppet 3rd world leaders, much to the demise and starvation of its citizens.

You don't actually think they're handing out charity from the goodness of their hearts, do you ?

Sequesteria is the PERFECT ATS topic

Comets, asteroids, and the Mayans all let us down...but, tic toc tic toc...tonight at midnight, per President Obama, fires will cease to be fought; our borders (and do we actually have borders at this point?) will be wide open; illegal drugs will flow in the streets but legal, life saving drugs won't be available. Schools will close, roads will immediately crumble, airports will have week long waiting periods to get thru TSA...oh and dogs will get along with cats.

The perfect DoomPorn. DC style.

I bet there are millions of Americans cracking their knuckles and flexing fingers just aching to get a shot at
cutting the stupid budget.
Congressional budgets would get a major ax job for their perks...say bye, bye to any legislation that exempted them that affects the average citizen. Goose/Gander from here on out.

So long to 350 of the military base Empire.

Ta Ta, Depts. of Energy, Education and TSA.

Toodle loo, bridges to nowhere and other pathetic pork barrel projects.

See, it's just that easy.

The Sequester Is Not Too Big, It Is Too Stupid

I second that!

However, I do find it odd that people are cool with cutting our defense budget by an estimated 7% while mandatory spending (increasing the size of government unnecessarily) is only decreased by a rate of 0.7%.

Wouldn’t it be more prudent to reverse those values (and then perhaps double or triple them)?

Sequesteria has reached it's zenith because brain trusts like Maxine Waters are career politicians.

nation.foxnews.com...

Think about it !!! 170 MILLION jobs to be lost at midnight tonight!!! This REALLY is problematic as there are only an approximate 150 million "jobs" in the US economy. Somehow, 20 million of us will have to quickly get a second (or fourth) job to make this Congressional scholar's math balance.

I said in another thread touching on this idiocy...this "token" reduction in spending is the equivalent of p!ssing on a forest fire...it does little to nothing to address the 1 trillion dollars of deficit spending that is still going to happen and it absolutely does nothing to address the nearly incomprehensible national debt ticking away at around 16 trillion.

This is another ploy from our "human livestock" farmers to scare the herds back into their stalls and cry to the farmers to save them.

Sorry, it's not working on me.

I say...let er hit!

Why do I have the feeling that we'll see some press release tonight that in the eleventh hour our "heroes" have overcome the "sequestration abomination"...

I would like to see some cuts that are much, much larger. The amount of money being cut compared to the national debt is hardly worth talking about.

What do we, the people, have to do to get our government to live within its means; like the rest of us are supposed to......

The spending cut is exactly what America needs, specifically in defense.

But look at how much abuse Obama cops from the media, FOX And the anti Obama crowd.

This man could find a cure for cancer, yet most people on this board and every news media under Murdoch s umbrella would spin it around and BLAME him for cancer in the first place.

Cut spending, 50% straight off the defense budget. Limit credit cards to 1 card per family. Force smokers to pay 100% tax on every packet. Pull out of Iraq and Afghan... c'mon Obama its simple!

Cut spending, cut defense. Cut giving billions of dollars to other countries (syria, israel). Freeze on everybody from the white house straight down through congress until they do their job. Ugh.

Don't forget:
100% tax on every bottle of booze
100% tax on every bottle of wine
100% tax on every case of beer
100% tax on every cigar
100% tax on all gambling winnings
100% tax on every speeding ticket
100% tax on every Big Mac
100% tax on every candy bar
100% tax on every can of pop

If you're going to play the sin tax game, then you might as well go all the way with it.

In the meantime, let's continue to allow our governments and politicians to keep pissing taxpayer's money out the window while we, instead, chisel away at the pockets of the average hardworking citizen so as to help boost the government revenues... giving them even more to piss away with.

Spending cuts are just that... SPENDING cuts... not dipping more into taxpayer's pockets.

Do you have any Idea of who will be forced into unemployment with this so call "budget cuts"? do you know that when the government said "Defense spending" is not about the military alone ? Actually the millitary is exempt from the coming cuts and is been actually increased, But hundreds of thousand of American jobs here in the nation are the ones that will be lost to add more to the growing unemployment in the nation.

Do you know that while the corrupted whores in congress keep cutting the budget and leaving Americans without jobs the Fed keeps Feeding the almost 100 billion dollars a month to the wall Street pimps in the too big too fail?

Yes I imagine you understand what the crap that is going on in Washington means when they tells that they are cutting the budget, let fixed better, they are increasing the unemployment in America to feed the pimp elite in charge.

Already the local base that support the welfare town I live in has been put on alert due to the soon exodus of workers that will be forced into unemployment if the cuts go in effect

Yes, America the welfare nation.
but rest assure that Wall Street is taking all the money they can get, thanks Obama job creation.

Debt ceiling, fiscal cliff, the sequester! This is the new government fear tactic until they secure a workable boogeyman.
