about discovering your weaknesses and boundaries...and working out why they are there....if its a resul of fear, pride etcetc

OK one more,

One day in a monastery far far away, lol, the monks were complaining to their teacher about a wayward monk that spent his days in the village playing with the children., while they spent their days trying to attain enlightenment by meditating and study.

The teacher said to them, that the wayward monk was the one that had been enlightened.

This is a poor telling of a Buddhist proverb i always liked.

Enlightenment is when you think you know more than you actually do.

Yeah like religionists who damn you to hell for not buying there BS because they think they know better then you... Naw that's not enlightenment that is darkness and self delusion....

For me it was when i figured out i was using the toilet wrong. If you turn around the other way you have a place to read a book. You don't have to look at the mess you made and the flush handle is conveniently on the left and easy to access. My IQ went up 20 points once i figured that out!!

Enlightenment, I think, is that state where we've learned to give (and not simply charitably, but a completely selfless giving that is the result of giving simply because giving is the highest good).

Thanks, I knew what it meant (as I've been reading Lovecraft since the early 80s). Was the Miskatonic reference lost on you?

Self-realization (there is no need for a sentence, unless you do not understand the terms, enlightenment may be more than self-realization to some, but I personally believe that understanding oneself is to understand all that one is capable of understanding).
