The funny thing is Im not actually emotionally invested at all, I just cant stop myself from saying something when I see stupidity.

As for my solution, I posted it about halfway down on page 5 of this thread.
No ones commented to tell me Im delusional and since most gun lovers pounce on any comment they see as stupid Ive got ti assume it has some validity.

I would be curious to hear some thoughts on it

For someone not emotionally invested you seem to spam anti gun threads, have responded to 9 pages of this one( while saying multiple times on multiple pages you weren't going to continue). You don't live here. You don't have to hear gunshots in your neighborhood at night. So I really don't care what you think about us or our rights.

"Think of the children" is one commonly used pretext for arguing against rights. One recent example is a bill entitled "“The Protecting Children From Internet Pornographers Act". This bill is actually worse than SOPA; essentially would undermine the freedom of the internet. However, they give it a title that makes anyone who votes against look like they support child porn. It's really a disgusting and unethical tactic.

The same argument is used for drugs enforcement; millions of non-violent offenders are imprisoned due to inane laws that work under the pretext of protecting children. Yet at the same time it's shown that for many children, it's easier to get illegal drugs than it is to get alcohol. Instead of protecting the children, these laws backfire psychologically, as well as destroy the lives of countless non-violent individuals. Additionally the laws create a subculture of crime, which in turn bolsters & augments gun-related violence. So long as the prison industrial complex improves its profits...

I agree whole-heartedly. The whole ribbons and think of the children crap is just nonsense. if you really thought of the children, you would try to actually solve the problems, in a constructive way that actually produces a result. Maybe I'm crazy, but applying scientific methods to anything in life produces results. If something fails, it is time to go in another direction, try another idea. It was amazing, all of those people on tv and on the forums that blasted the NRA dude that advocated putting armed guards in school, some even calling it dangerous. yet, low and behold, not one word was said when they did that exact thing at the new Sandy Hook school.
I would love to live in a world where we didn't need guns for protection. i'm sure anyone would. but to say with a straight face that we can get rid of the guns at this stage of the game and solve the problem is naive, and lacks critical thought skills. i'm sorry if that may offend some of you, but it is true.
But like I said earlier, I am open to an intelligent discussion of a real world solution to the problem. But banning the guns is out. It has been proven to work, and background checks, etc, have been proven to not work also. Adam Lanza was denied a gun based on the current laws we had. The laws did the job. yet we still have the massacre. Time for some new ideas.

It SHOULD be 'common sense' never to fire a gun in or around PUBLIC or RESIDENTIAL areas.
Come on people use your damn heads.

I always read about how the nwo/us gov were trying to dumb down their citizens and thought, nah that's nonsense they wouldn't do that.
Then you read the arguments from all the gun nutters or comments about how non-Americans shouldn't comment and I realise it must all be TRUE, they must be getting dumbed down.
This is the nation that put a man on the moon only 40 years ago yet today they can't see common sense staring them in the face.

I live in this world. Not once in my life have I ever felt that I needed a gun for protection. In fact, I live in a world where I don't even feel the need to lock my door at night...it's called Canada. We don't have anywhere near the amount of gun violence the US does because we have hardcore gun regulations. The only time in my life I ever felt the need to carry a gun was when I visited the United States of Armed Civilians, BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS CARRYING GUNS ON THEM!! You people are ####ed in the head, I'm sorry.

Nice job misconstruing his statement. There are many areas in the US where you can feel safe not locking your door; that's how I feel where we currently live (Maine). However, he said "a world", which doesn't just mean your nice little Canadian community. I'm sure there are even some dangerous areas in Canada.

By world, he literally means the world. There are many, many neighborhoods, cities, and countries where the threat of violence is imminent, probable, & pervasive. Some areas where it's rational to take precautions. Telling people they're f***ed in the head because they have the means to protect themselves is repulsive. It's easy for you to say something like that? Ever stop to realize not everywhere is the same? Ever stop to think robberies, rape, abuse, murder, and oppression occur every second somewhere in this world??

Apparently not; I guess you think "the world" only applies to your limited circle of observation. What's more ****ed in the head: those who use guns to kill & harm people, those who use guns to defend themselves and their loved ones, or those who generalize all gun owners as f***ed in the head?? Really you should be ashamed for spewing garbage like that.

Very sad, stupid accident. I do believe we should require at least every 2-5 years safety course, and bi-annual psych evaluation (though that would be expensive as it would require an appeals process, etc., and would probably by design go too far.) That said, this is a tragic accident, caused by a stupid person misusing a dangerous product. It happens with all kinds of products, from cardboard compactors, to hydraulic lifts.

I would like for there to be increased punishment an enforcement for such things, as well as for use of fireworks on any day but the 4th of July. We could reduce these tragic events, as well as cut down the number of nights my baby is woken up by these idiots blowing off fireworks for every holiday.

Next step, ban machine shops, and 3d printers. Can't let anyone be able to make anything. because they could also make guns.

Agreed on this. Don't forget while your at it to ban small diameter steel and lead pipe, roofing nails, springs that fit over said nail and wood drum sticks. Thats about 2 parts and 1 process (really IMPORTANT parts and process..so no one go try..lol) short of making a single shot weapon that will do far more damage in a far less noticeable way to the outside world at the moment it fires than any conventional firearm someone shoots from a distance.

There is also an Army field manual out there....or so rumor has it...which is dedicated to illustrating the nasty bad things found around the world for improvised weapons ..and how they work. I really wouldn't prefer to see American ingenuity applied to solving the desire to begin MAKING everyone's own weapons. The commercial variety does plenty without sadistic twists thrown in by each designer, indeed.

Well well.......

Before Im accused again of trawling the net looking for anti gun propaganda, this was in the top 10 stories of the website Im directed to when I close my email acc

A 10-year-old girl in the US has died after being struck by a stray bullet fired in the air during New Year's celebrations. Aaliyah Boyer was watching midnight fireworks outside a home in Elkton, Maryland, south of Philadelphia, when she was struck in the head by a falling bullet.

Yeah I know
It was probably an illegal firearm
The gun owner wasnt responsible
They probably had a mental illness
She shouldnt have been out that late
Its her parents fault for not making her wear a crash helmet
People die from Car crashes way more than guns, lets ban them
Etc etc etc etc

Thank god I live in a country where people dont have to worry about getting shot at school or even that when standing outside its a possibility to get hit by bullets falling out of the sky.

The mentality of gun ownership is just sick, theres no taboo involved in owning or apparently even firing a gun.
God bless America, land of the free to own any gun you want.

I wont be responding to anyone who uses this as a platform to tell me guns are OK, quite frankly Ive had enough and have dealt with all your pointless and contradictory arguments a million times over.
As long as guns are readily available to everyone stories like this and Sandy Hook are gonna keep happening.

WAKE UP PEOPLE AND FRICKEN DO SOMETHING!!!!!!!!

I watched your video

Im not exactly sure what your getting at, the fact you would include this as some sort of argument for your side completely baffles me???

I bet you even thought it was funny.
"geha geha, they was puttin guns down and sayin they was gonna hurt em geha geha"

No one thinks guns lying somewhere are gonna hurt anyone, it when crazies pick them up and decide to use them they become a problem.
In the US they have way too many opportunities to do so.

Thats my point which all you gun lovers seem to miss

You've said yourself that your glad you don't live here.............. well then why do you keep bringing it up. Let it go. Your not going to change the opinion of anyone on this site who is pro-gun. Personally I don't see why your so concerned with what we do with our laws and rights as they are not yours but ours............

It's the same thing as people who like to hear their own voice, some like to see their posts and hope for stars and attention they may lack in their daily lives!
You are right, enough is enough!

The OP is not breaking any T&C's so he/she has a right to type what he/she wants, you do not need to read it.
So instead of saying enough is enough just move on.
